How is everyone doing with quarantine life?! Here in Chicago we are getting by, but next week will be very interesting! I don’t talk much about what I do a lot for a living, especially on the blog. When I leave work, I like to leave it there and focus on spending quality time with my family and friends and doing the things that I love. So I’ve probably never shared this before- but I work in purchasing…..and I buy toilet paper!!! Among other things, but paper products are my biggest category. So you can only imagine how busy I’ve been the last few weeks! I’ve been in this industry for five years now and it’s crazy. I’ve never seen anything like what we’ve been experiencing at work lately.
Kurt and I have been both so busy at work (he works in logistics, so he’s been even busier than me!) so we haven’t really felt the effects yet of this quarantine. Except I have a feeling next week is going to be so different. Kurt’s work told him he is no longer able to come into his office. So he’s set up his entire work station in our kitchen haha! It’s a site to see.
And Friday, the governor announced all non-essential businesses were being forced to close. Which means Addie’s daycare will be closing for two weeks. We’ve been taking her for runs to try and tire her out but it’s going to be a big wakeup call for both her and us next week when she can’t see all of her friends!
Anyway, if you have more time on your hands or just need a project to do next week, right now is such a good time to re-evaluate your closet. Think about what items you might need for spring or holes you might want to fill. There are so many good sales going on right now! So if you are in the position to shop- I would do it! I know there is a lot of uncertainty about people’s jobs or where this economy is headed so no pressure. Here are 10 wardrobe staples I recommend for spring this year!
10 Wardrobe Staples to Add This Spring
Sweater | Jeans (similar here and here) | Sneakers | Sunglasses (similar here)
- Cashmere Sweater– I wear these $100 cashmere sweaters all the time! And they are most my worn wardrobe staples. They literally go with anything and everything. From date night to work to weekends with sneakers, I get so much wear out of mine. I own the grey (pictured above) and black, but I love the pink color too! I recommend stocking up on neutral colors first so you can easily mix and match throughout your wardrobe.
- Light Colored Denim– Light colored jeans just scream spring! I bought this straight leg pair last year and I’ve lived in them. This pair and this pair are similar. If you don’t want to splurge on denim right now, Madewell is my favorite brand that are priced much better. They fit so well and always have the best washes!
- White Sneakers– If you are able to, I can’t recommend Golden Goose sneakers more. I’ve had mine for about two years now and I wear them every chance I get. They are totally worth the splurge in my opinion. You can read more about them in this post here. If you don’t want to splurge, I’ve had my eye on this pair and this pair too.
- White T-shirt– I basically wear a white tee almost every day. I wear them under my sweaters, layered with cardigans or on their own. My favorite is this one from Madewell. But if you want to splurge, this one is amazing! It is so stretchy and overall just a great fit. You will be obsessed!
- Trench coat– Nothing is more iconic for spring than a classic trench coat. I love how this wardrobe staple has evolved with the times. Not only do they look great when you are dressed up for work, but you can wear them with jeans and even leggings! I would love to splurge on a Burberry one some day. Here is a great one and also this one that are more affordable.
- Chambray Top– Another item I’ve had in my closet for years is a chambray top. And it’s a go to outfit with white jeans and sneakers for me every spring- I swear it never gets old!
- Jean Jacket– A jean jacket can be worn with white jeans or even leggings or layered over a dress, so its a great layering piece for spring. I reach for mine all the time this time of year!
- Casual Dress– Dresses with sneakers is a huge trend right now. I’m not usually much of a dress person, but its a trend I think is absolutely adorable and one that I want to try. I like this one and this one.
- Loafers– These look adorable with jeans and I also live in shoes like this for work. I own this Sam Edelman pair in three colors (white, light tan and black) and they are the most comfortable things ever! I think my favorite probably has to be the white. I’ve worn mine so much that I plan on replacing them this spring.
- Fun Hair Accessories– Headbands and hair scrunches are so easy to throw on and make a simple outfit, add a little pizzaz! Here and here are some that I recommend.
