3 Best Self Tanning Products

Lately I have been so busy on the weekends, that I haven’t had a chance to relax by our pool.  Which is such a bummer because it’s one of my favorite things to do in the summertime!  Since I haven’t been in the sun as much as I would like, I have to fake my tan a little.  Which is actually the safer way to do it anyway.  No one wants wrinkles or the threat of getting skin cancer.  So even when I am laying by the pool, I make sure to slather the SPF on.  Here are my 3 best tanning products that I use to fake a perfect glow:

  1. L’Oreal Self Tanning Towelettes– This is one of my favorite tanning products that I have been using for years now.  It is a wipe and super easy to apply.  I like to apply this at night and let it settle into my skin overnight before I shower in the morning.  They don’t make your skin look orange and miraculously in the morning, you wake up with an awesome glow.  They are a little difficult to see where you are putting the product on.  The wipe itself goes on your skin clear, so you don’t exactly know where you are placing the product.  So I recommend really paying attention and getting every part of your body as best you can.  I always do them two nights in a row, especially if you have an event you are wanting a tan for.  I always seem to miss random little spots, so that way you have time to fix those.  Like any tanning product, it does have a slight smell to it, but it’s bearable.  And a little does rub off on your sheets at night, so be careful.
  2. Jergen’s Moisturizer–  I use this lotion every morning during the summer months to help my tan last.  It smells good and is a thicker lotion, which I happen to like.  It still gives you the moisture you need and helps add a gradual tan.  If you aren’t using any other product but this one, it will take a few days to notice anything.
  3. Clarins Glow Booster – This is my new favorite products and I decided to give it a try after one of my favorite beauty bloggers recommended it.  What sets this product apart  and what I personally love is that you mix this in with your own face lotion.  In the past, I always hated putting any sort of self tanner on my face, for fear of breaking out.  I didn’t want to take that chance.  But with this product, you don’t have to!  The directions say to use three drops mixed in with your face moisturizer, but for me that made me a little too dark (I do have fair skin though).  So I started using 1-2 drops and I have the perfect glow.  One thing I will mention, is you have to be very careful when you rub it in.  I have stained my eyebrows and my eyebrow lady had to help me scrub the product out!  And you have to be careful around your jaw line.  Maybe it’s just me because I do have a tendency to not rub stuff in very well, but I have noticed a streak at my jawline.  My face is tan, but my neck is still white.  So you just need to make sure you rub it into your neck too.

    I have one from Amazon called Fake Bake that people raved about. I’ve used it a few times and it does look really good! I just never remember to actually put it on.

    These all sound like great products! I never used self-tanner, I’ve actually have to try to steer clear from the sun in the summer time because I tend to get tooo dark, haha!

    First, how have I never checked jcrew for swimsuits before? So cute! I’ve always used Jergens, but you might’ve just sold me on those towelettes. They sound awesome!

    I’ve had those tanning towels for a while but have never bitten the bullet and tried them before…but since you suggested doing them two nights in a row to fix mistakes, I think I may try that method out!

      Yes, just try them- they are great! You will miss a few spots because they go on clear, but you can always fix it the next night. Good luck!

    I’ve never actually self-tanned before! I just kind of accept my super pale self the way it is, haha! But I have heard great things about all of these products!

    I’ve got to try that Clarins product! I am so nervous about putting self tanner on my face, and that seems like a really simple, low risk way to do so. I really like Sengence and Vita Liberata self tanning products 🙂
