Cashmere & Jeans is celebrating 6 months today and I can’t thank everyone enough for all of their support!!! And for following along. It seems silly to be celebrating a 6 month blogging anniversary, but I am so proud of myself! I started this blog as an idea and grew it into this tiny little space on the internet. So, in honor of my anniversary I wanted to share how Cashmere & Jeans came to life and how I came up with the name.
With the job that I currently work at, I am able to take the train to work. Which is amazing! I love the freedom I have and not having to be stuck in Chicago traffic everyday. One of my favorite activities to do on the train is read other blogs (some of my favorites are Pink Peonies and Chronicles of Frivolity). I have always loved fashion, reading and shopping. So blogs are right up my alley!
At my previous job working at Claire’s, I helped to launch the site Icing.com. It was my baby and thru that experience I learned so much about the eCommerce world and also my ability to take on and learn something I had no clue about. After almost four years at Claire’s, it was time to part ways and move on. Which is when I landed my current job. My job now has nothing to do with fashion, which is fine, but I was starting to miss it! Literally out of the blue, one day I came home and told Kurt- I am going to start a blog. He looked at me a little crazy, but after I explained to him all of my thoughts and ideas, he was on board. I had experience in websites and I was able to also work in my true passion- fashion and shopping!
Once I decided on starting a blog, I knew the first order of business had to be a name. Around this time I traveled back to Traverse City to visit my parents. And one night my dad and I were brainstorming names. We were throwing out words that best described me, items or things that I like, etc. Finally we decided to take a break because we weren’t getting anywhere and nothing was sticking that we both loved. I checked my email and Club Monaco sent one calling out Cashmere & Jeans. And I thought to myself- wait, that would be a really cute name! I have an obsession with jeans. And cashmere is such a luxurious fabric and one I have always loved! The name is also high end (cashmere) to low end and casual (jeans). This was the perfect name to describe me! I say this all time, but it was like the blogging gods had just sent me an email haha. It was the perfect name and thankfully was still available in cyber world.
Today is about celebrating the small accomplishments. There are those days that this blog is too much and I feel completely overwhelmed. But, thankfully I have never wanted to give up. I’ve learned to juggle so much these days. In the end, the hard work will pay off and I know this will someday amount to something greater than I can only work towards. I hardly ever sleep in on the weekends anymore because the best time to write is before the sun comes up. And before the day gets too busy. My weekends are now also filled with taking pictures with the hubby and planning out our next photo shoots. But I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thank you so much for reading and being part of this blogging journey!! Where I have started from 6 months ago and where I see this blog going is so exciting to me!!!!
My Outfit
And now that I got all of the mushy stuff out of the way- I want to talk about my outfit! Because what else would I be wearing, but Cashmere & Jeans to celebrate this mini milestone! J.Crew is clearly one of my favorite retailers and they have the best cashmere sweaters. This year, they have come a line of cashmere called ‘Everyday Cashmere’ and it is at a much more affordable price point. This sweater is only $98!!!!! Which is so inexpensive for a nice cashmere sweater.
You have seem me wear these jeans a ton of times already, but right now they are my favorite jeans in my closet. I love the dark wash and the fit is amazing! The high waist makes them so comfortable to wear. And the amount of stretch in them is perfect. If you don’t have a pair of cropped jeans- you need some! I love how skinny they make your legs look and they are a breeze to tuck into your boots for the winter season. These are a must!
Thanks again everyone for the love and for following along!!!
