I finally feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel. It will be March this week and that is usually the start to warmer weather. Fingers crossed! Last weekend we were in Palm Beach, so we got a taste of 80 degree temps, and I am so ready for Spring. This time of year can be a little tricky with how to dress. It still can be cold (especially in Chicago), but you want to wear some of the new fashions you are seeing for the upcoming season. Here are some of the tips I follow for transitioning my wardrobe into Spring:
Start with your shoes
You should know by now, I’m a big shoe person. And every season I like to add a few new pairs into the mix. I almost always base my outfits around what shoes I feel like wearing and build on from there. I’ve had my eye on these nude flats for a while and finally pulled the trigger. They are gorgeous in person. And I know they are a little more expensive but remember this post when I talked about wanting to add more staples into my wardrobe? These are a shoe that will never go out of style. If you don’t want to splurge, I found this very similar pair for half the price!
Think about your denim
It’s also no surprise here that I love denim. And I’ve been wanting a light colored pair for sometime now. I just knew the winter time wasn’t the right time to wear these. But they are the perfect color to transition into Spring! The light color screams spring! This is actually my first time buying jeans from my favorite retailer, J.Crew. And these are so good! They have an insane amount of stretch to them. I’ve never worn a jean before that has this much give to them, which makes them incredibly comfortable! Now is also the perfect time to get out your white denim. I’ve basically worn mine this entire year, but if you aren’t as risky as me, pull them out of storage now. I like to wear mine with darker colored tops (think navy or black) to make your outfit feel less summery.
Try lighter fabrics
My sweater is made of a cotton mix and I picked this up recently because wool gets to be too hot as the weather starts to warm up. This sweater will keep me warm when I need it (I like to layer a cami underneath on colder days) and will also be perfect for those cooler summer nights. I will get a lot of wear out of this sweater.
Add a pop of color in your accessories
When I saw these earrings, I knew they were perfect as we head into Spring. You can still wear your basics, but these earrings add a fun pop of color to immediately make your outfit more Spring appropriate. You can also try a bright colored handbag, hot pink lipstick or a colorful scarf!
