Welcome to Cashmere & Jeans! My name is Amanda and I am the author. Let me begin by telling you a little about myself. I grew up in Royal Oak, MI as an only child. Ok so here is where it gets complicated- I do have a half sister (we share the same Dad), but she’s about 10 years older than me, so we never lived together. Hence why I consider myself an only child. After high school I attended Western Michigan University where I graduated in 2007 with a Fashion Merchandising degree and a minor in Chemistry (long story!). While at Western I joined a sorority, Alpha Phi. Joining a sorority was one of the best decisions I have made. I am still in contact with a lot of my sorority sisters and I still consider these girls my best friends!
While in college I also met my future husband, Kurt (thanks to my sorority sisters). I was somehow talked me into living in a fraternity house for the summer. Yes you read that correctly, a FRATERNITY house. But it was one of the best summers of my life! I formed so many new friendships that summer and had the time of my life. Kurt and I met the day after we moved in. He was wearing green Abercrombie & Fitch shorts (which he still owns) and I remember his vivacious personality. I knew he was someone special from the start. You would think that I would now say we started dating and were in love ever since, but that’s not how the story unfolded. It took us a few years of being friends before the timing was right. Over the years before we officially started dating, I always joked that he was my future husband! Fast forward to 2014 and we were married in Traverse City, MI in front of 150 friends and family. It was such a magical day!
After college I moved back to Royal Oak and lived there for a bit. I was working for a company and a position became available in Chicago, IL. I had always dreamed of living in Chicago- I absolutely adored the city! The job was offered to me and I accepted, so that’s how I came to Chicago. I have lived all over the city in my eight years. Lincoln Park, Bucktown, Logan Square and the West Loop. Today Kurt and I live in the West Loop and we absolutely love it! We are so close to the city, we walk everywhere, all of our friends live within a 2 mile radius of us and we are one block from Randolph Street (all of the best restaurants!). Kurt and I live with our two kittens (Frank and Charlie) and our puppy, Addison. Ok so Addie might not quite be a puppy anymore but we still think of her that way!
What you will see from me are outfit posts, my favorite clothing pieces, beauty products, wedding inspiration, home decor, my pets (because they are my life), travel, and so much more! This is just the beginning of all the stuff I have planned and I am SO excited for this new adventure! Welcome to Cashmere & Jeans 🙂

Amanda, my name is Carly and I just absolutely love your blog! I saw you commented on sequinsandthings.com and you had your blog attached and I wanted to let you know I love your site! It’s all aesthetically pleasing which I love!! I had a question, I read in your first post that you were in Alpha Phi, I’m graduating high school this year and I plan on rushing next year at the University of Alabama, and it’s so coincidental but I really hope to get into Alpha Phi! If you ever had time I would love to chat about if you have any advice for me, or any tips I would appreciate it so much!! I’m still trying to understand how it all works, it feels like a job trying to get ready for it all! 😉 Just if you wouldn’t mind, or ever get the chance! My email is carlywalker33@gmail.com thanks so much for reading this, I love your blog so far! I’ve always wanted to start one of my own and I love that you’re relatively new to it! Thanks again!!

Thank you for reading Carly! And you absolutely should join a sorority next year. It was the best decision I have made and don’t let people try telling you that you are paying for your friends. These girls are my life! And 10 years later I’m still best friends with all of them. Without Alpha Phi I also would have never met my husband 😀 Feel free to email me anytime: amanda@cashmereandjeans.com I would love to give you some tips on how to start a blog. I have found some great resources. Good luck!
