We have been in our new place about a month now and it is finally starting to feel like home! We are all unpacked and for the most part pretty organized. I know and remember where stuff is now haha. The biggest thing lately has been decorating! I don’t think either of us really realized how much space we actually had until we moved in. I keep telling Kurt I’ve never had options before in terms of where our furniture can go. Usually there is ONE spot and that’s the only spot an item can fit. But in our new apartment, the options are endless! So we’ve spent a few weekends moving furniture from room to room, but I think we have finally decided on some permanent locations.
For the most part our master bedroom is completed and I absolutely love how the space has turned out. Our master is HUGE! I mean, I knew it was a spacious room, but you don’t really realize how big it is until you start adding furniture to the room. I still need to order a rug and add a few more accessories and then I plan on sharing the space with you!
The most troubling space is our living/dining room and today I wanted to share my design inspiration. This actually helps me so much because you can visually see it all come together. A few weeks ago we got our new dining table and chairs and I am so in love with them! I was having such a hard time deciding on what color chairs to go with. I loved the look of the blue/white combo, but I eventually landed the grey/white and I’m so happy with them! They add a sense of interest to the space without being too bold, which is exactly what I was going for!
And last week our new rug was delivered! I have to admit, I am horrible at picking out rugs. First off, I refuse to spend upwards of $800 on a rug. I mean- that’s crazy! Especially because we have so many animals who all seem to pee or puke ON the rugs. Why do they do this haha?! I refuse to spend a ton on them, so finding designs that I like at a good price can be hard. But I am SO happy with this one that I finally decided on. The quality is so nice. It is so soft and durable and I have already fallen in love with it. And it already ties the room together so nicely.
For the most part, we have all of our “big furniture” purchased and delivered. With the exception of a new TV stand. Ours got pretty beat up in the move and the wall is just too big for the tiny, small one we currently have. But this will be a piece we do way down the line. Kurt is trying to talk me out of a new one, but a girl has made up her mind up! I compromised and told him it would be one of the last items I buy, so we will see! In all reality, I haven’t found one yet that I’m in love with either.
As far as art goes, I am really loving the idea of a beachy type of print and I adore this one. I think it adds an element of fun to the space. We need a large print to go on the wall behind our dining room table. I think this one is super cute, but I’m just not sure if I like it with my rug or the pillows I plan to order. I’m defiantly going for this look though, so I’m still on the hunt!
And funny story about this chair. I was out shopping one day before we moved and was browsing thru Potterybarn. I had looked at this chair before and loved the color of it. But I really liked the profile of it because it’s smaller than a normal chair. And living in small spaces, I’m always on the hunt for smaller furniture. Well, they were having a floor sample sale and this piece was still available, so you better believe I snatched it up! I got an insane deal- almost half off! Kurt was in Mexico that weekend and I don’t usually make rash or large purchases without his ok, but it was something I had to act quick on.
We currently have this chair in our master bedroom, but we will eventually move it to the living area. If you can recall Addie decided one day to destroy our current leather chair that I’ve had for years from Restoration Hardware. Let’s just say she’s been on the naughty list for quite some time. We still have it in our living area now and we are waiting for her to get used to the new space, which at this point I don’t know if I will ever trust her! But eventually we will take the risk and move it.
We still have a lot of work to do in this space, but then again does a home ever feel done?
