Hi everyone! I’ve taken a bit of a break here these last couple of weeks, but I wanted to pop in today and show you what I wore in San Diego. We were there last weekend (Memorial weekend) to celebrate our five year wedding anniversary! I seriously can’t believe its been that long. Time flies! It seems like it was just yesterday, but at the same time it seems like it was an eternity ago because so much has changed since then. We both agreed when we got married we would go on little trips or do something special for at least all of the big anniversaries. So it felt fitting to celebrate in San Diego!
The whole trip was really planned around seeing my nephew and new niece who live about an hour outside of the city. But we decided to say a couple of nights in a hotel to celebrate our anniversary. Kurt actually ended up planning the whole trip and I was shocked at how well he did. We stayed at Hotel del Cornado and it was absolutely perfect! The hotel itself is breathtaking and right on the water. It felt like an actual resort and if you didn’t want to leave, you really didn’t have to. They had a few different restaurants to choose from, an awesome pool, the ocean and beach and tons of cute shops. I really can’t wait to go back and stay again!
The weather there was beautiful but defiantly a little on the chilly side. I would be cold one minute and then walk a couple of blocks and I would be dying of heat. So if you are headed there- dress in layers. Here are the outfits I wore while there!

I wore this the day we left Chicago to fly to San Diego. I was actually a little chilly on the flight, but I’m always cold. So I would recommend a warmer top. But other than that I like to be comfy on long flights!

This was our first night in San Diego and we went downtown to Little Italy. The food was amazing! My top has sold out so I’ve linked a couple of similar versions.

This was probably my favorite part of San Diego. Every morning we were up super early because of the time difference. So we would be one of the first ones every morning at breakfast. We would eat and then go on a long walk around the neighborhood. And let me tell you the houses were beyond gorgeous!! They had so much charm and character. Every corner we turned we were in awe. I told Kurt I would be more than willing to move across country if I could live in one of these houses. Except the prices are sky high. Either way- they were so pretty to look at!

Once we had walked off our food we headed to Balboa Park to explore the gardens. This is really such a cute area. They have a ton of museums you can go into and some beautiful gardens to explore. Since we wanted to soak up every ounce of sunshine we could we decided to skip the museums and just walk around and take in the area. It was so pretty and completely free the whole day.

Once we were done exploring we headed back to the hotel to relax a bit. It always warmed up in the afternoon so we decided to head to the beach for a few hours to relax. But before we could relax, we just had to get a picture in front of the giant sand castles. It’s cheesy, but it’s all about the memories, right?!

This was our anniversary dinner and we headed to Mister A’s. I believe it was on the 9th floor of a building downtown and the views were unreal! The atmosphere was so romantic, but honestly, I don’t think we would go back. The food was just so so. And when you are paying that much for food, I always expect it to be above and beyond. And for the price it was just ok. I would recommend going there for drinks though because the view is amazing!

This is what I wore the second day on our morning walk. Again always wear layers because by the end of our walk, I was striped down to just my tee underneath. We drove past this archway on our way to dinner the previous night and I was on the hunt to find it to get a picture. It was even more beautiful in person!

This was the last outfit shot I got and this was our last day at the hotel. We headed to spend time with family and I really wanted to soak in all my time with the kids and with my brother and sister in law. We did end up taking my nephew the following day to SeaWorld and that was a blast. I didn’t get an outfit shot, but I wore this sweatshirt, jeans and my sneakers and was so comfortable the entire day. It was so much fun! And if you go you have to see the dolphin show (that was my favorite) although, my nephew liked the sea otters the best. But it was such a fun day and there were so many things to see.
This was such a relaxing trip for Kurt and I and I really can’t wait to go back! It’s nice that we have family out there because it gives us an excuse to visit more!
