I love nothing more than putting up my Christmas decor every year (see how I decorated this year here). But there is nothing more refreshing than taking it all down! You are left with a blank canvas and I get so excited to start decorating again and basically starting over. This year I did a major refresh and I’m so excited to share it with you today and to also give you some tips on how to refresh your home after the holidays!
I finally feel like our living space is “done” and I really couldn’t be more happy with how it has finally all come together. I put this in quotes because I still have a few more things I want to add like a plant next to our mirror. And the last couple of days I have been obsessing over this cabinet! It would add some much needed storage to our space, which would be super helpful. And then lastly, we need some art. I haven’t exactly found the perfect pieces yet, but I’ve had my eye on this set to go behind our table. But other than that it’s done….
Over Black Friday weekend, I bought this coffee table. I had been on then hunt for a new one. And I stumbled upon this one when I was browsing One Kings Lane. The price was too good to pass up and I knew I would kick myself if I didn’t buy it, so I jumped on it. It is so similar to this crazy, expensive one that I’ve loved now for far too long. But there is no way I would ever spend that much! I’ve been really happy with it so far, expect Addie has already been bad and chewed on one of the sides of it. I swear we just can’t have nice things with her because she always tries to destroy them! Anyway here are three tips on how to refresh your home after the holidays that I followed this year too 🙂
How to Refresh Your Home After the Holidays
1.Refresh with New Pillows or a Rug
In my instance I refreshed with both! I bought this rug back in April and it was on backorder for months. I finally got it back in October, but was so over it that I didn’t even open it up. When I bought my coffee table, I thought everything was a little too neutral looking and that we needed some color. Insert this rug and it’s exactly what this space needed.
Pillows are also a great and inexpensive way to add some color to your space. I found these from Target because they looked like the Serene & Lily pillows I’ve also been obsessing over. But at a much more affordable price. As much as I love pillows, there is no way I would pay that much. But I love the look of them. And Target nailed it this year!
2. Try a new scent
During Christmas I love to burn candles. I think it gives you that real Christmas scent! Once I put all of my decor away, I pulled out this candle that I haven’t burned in a while and OMG I forgot how amazing the scent is. This candle is outragrously expensive, so I’m not sure yet if I would buy it again. These William’s Sonoma candles are my all time favorites to burn. My favorite is Grapefruit! They are such a great price, are clean smelling, which I love and they also make the whole entire room smell good. Sometimes candles don’t give off enough scent and then I’m like why am I even burning one?
3. Change up your accessories
Coffee table books are my favorite accessory right now because you can add a personal touch to your space. I just picked up this book on peonies because they are my favorite! And this book called Wood was my gift to Kurt for our 5th wedding anniversary. I follow the traditional gifts you are suppose to give your spouse every year (its become a fun tradition!) and your 5th anniversary is wood, so this book was perfect!
I also picked up a new tray to house everything in and this marble one is just so pretty! And I’ve been seeing these beads all over lately and had to try them out for myself. I really like how they look draped over my coffee table books.
Anyway, the point is change up a few accessories, add a pop of color, but make it functional and it will add a much needed refresh to your space!
