I know this is a very specific post, but today I’m going to talk about my favorite maternity jeans. Everyone has an opinion about them when they get pregnant. Do you splurge? Go cheap? Over the belly or under the belly? It can be really hard to find good ones that are comfortable and still look cute. I’m a big jean wearer and I knew that I would be living in them so I set out to find the perfect pairs. Since I would be pregnant most of the spring and summer months I knew I needed a few pairs to tied me over. Spring can still be chilly in the midwest! I needed to feel like myself during my pregnancy so I knew I had to find a few pairs of jeans that I love…..and I did !
7 for All Mankind
…
These are probably my favorite pair tied with the ones below. I knew I needed a white pair of jeans because I LIVE in white jeans, especially during the spring. These are defiantly a splurge, but I used a gift card to make them a little cheaper. The great thing about these is that they are like actual jeans. They have a zipper and function just like a normal pair of jeans.
Since these go under the belly, I was able to wear these really early on in my pregnancy. Everyone always tries to wait to wear and buy maternity clothing, but I embraced it! I would rather be comfortable than not and maternity clothing feels so much better on your body. Anyway, I started wearing these around 13/14 weeks. I actually wore them in our gender reveal that you can see here and I was 14 weeks there. At that point I could still squeeze into my normal jeans, but they were not comfortable at all. These worked so well with my little belly.
I bought my true size, but when I first got them I almost thought I could have gone down a size. They have a ton of stretch to them. As my belly has grown, I’m glad I didn’t size down though because now they fit perfectly. I will say earlier in my pregnancy, I felt like I was always pulling these up, especially when I would bend over. But I think that is just because they go under the belly. I also plan to wear these postpartum before I’m back into my normal size clothing. That is the only way I could justify the price! They look like normal jeans and no one will even notice.
Madewell Skinny Jean
…
These are a close second, if not first place in my favorite maternity jeans. I honestly can’t decide between these and my white ones. These get the most wear just because they are a basic jean. The wash is the perfect color and they are so comfortable. I can’t get over how soft they are. The over the belly band is really comfortable. I’m 34 weeks this week and they still fit comfortably. I bought my pre-pregnancy size that I wear at Madewell, which is a size down than what I wear in other jeans brands. Their jeans run on the bigger size. And they have fit my entire pregnancy.
I did get these on sale so be sure to watch out for sales. Any little helps, especially when you are buying clothing you will only wear for a short period of time! If you buy one pair of jeans, let them be this pair. They go with everything, are very comfortable and are really cute too. I do think these will be a little uncomfortable to wear postpartum so I’m glad I didn’t spend as much on these. The over the belly band will likely be too annoying to wear without a bump.
Madewell Mom Jean
…
I don’t wear these as much as the other two pairs I mentioned above, but they defiantly deserve a mention in this post. I like that they are a little wider at the bottom so I get a different option when wearing maternity jeans. Again these go under the belly, so they were great early on in pregnancy and I have to imagine they will work post baby when I will still trying to lose the baby weight. I will note these do not have a functioning zipper so they just slide right up and down. Not a big deal, but you can see where the 7 for All Mankind ones would be a little more pricey just because of the extra detailing. They don’t have a ton of stretch in them, but are still really comfortable. I’m wearing my normal pre-pregnancy size which are a size up in what I typically wear at Madewell. Mom jeans fit me more snugly!
I should also note that in these images, I am wearing the same t-shirt and sneakers which have been my go to during my pregnancy. I LOVE these tees from Target! Great price and they are super comfy. They don’t have any side ruching which I actually really like. So they don’t scream maternity. They are just a little longer to cover the bump. I will actually wear these even after baby is here. Sometimes you just need a longer tee to wear with leggings to cover you bum and these would be perfect for that.
And these sneakers! Most comfortable pair of sneakers that I own right now! I love how preppy looking they are and they look great with jeans and also dresses, which I have now found myself living in. I wear these almost every day of the week. They are a bit of splurge, but occasionally they do go on sale (I got mine on sale), so be on the lookout.
