It feels like it has been quite some time since I’ve done one of these posts!
Last week, Kurt and I hosted our first Thanksgiving and it was a ton of work, but everything turned out so good! I think I might do a post with more detail of what I cooked and the recipes I used so I can save it for next year haha. I was the most nervous about the turkey, but it turned out so good! Very moist and just delicious. It was my first time cooking a turkey so I think I had every right to be nervous. But it was a lot easier than I expected.
In my opinion, a pumpkin pie is an absolute must for every Thanksgiving meal. Even if I am stuffed, I just have to have a little bite- it’s a must. I only ever eat it on Thanksgiving too. My mom this year bought be a pie dish and sent me her recipe to make which turned out absolutely delicious!! Kurt ended up eating the last few pieces a few days later and he doesn’t even like pumpkin pie. But this one is so good. I am going to order myself this pumpkin pie Christmas ornament to remember my first time hosting Thanksgiving and my first pumpkin pie!
I also finally got my tree up. This is the latest I think I’ve ever put it up! I had everything else up like my garland on my mantle and stockings for Thanksgiving, but waited to put our tree up because we needed the extra space. But I have to admit- I kind of like waiting. I felt like I really got to embrace and celebrate Thanksgiving and then it was full steam ahead into Christmas. Sloane had the most fun decorating the tree. She even asked for more ornaments when we were all out haha. You can tell where she decorated because all of her ornaments are clumped together- but it looks so cute and she had a blast, so I left them all.
We also took her to a local store over the weekend and let her pick out a new Christmas ornament. I think I might do this every year because it’s a cute idea and then you support a local business too. If you are local, Small Favors has a ton of really cute ornaments! She ended up picking out this unicorn which we hung on our tree in our play room. I do a more traditional red and green tree in our living room and then we have all the more fun pink and sparkly ornaments in our play room. You get the best of Christmas that way!
And here are some things I’ve been shopping for lately!
- I’ve been wanting to order a nice Santa cookie plate that we will have for many, many years. How pretty is this one?! There is also this one, which is also super cute and lot more affordable.
- I ordered these winter boots for Sloane. She wears her rain boots to school almost every day- she loves them! But she needed a warmer pair for winter and she also need something to play outside in. I’ve heard really great things about this brand too.
- I’ve had a major hole in my closet in terms of shoes. There have been so many outfits recently that I want a pair of ballet flats but I don’t have a pair. Well, I fell in love with these and ordered them right away. And I’m obsessed. They are the most comfortable pair of shoes ever- the leather is so soft. I wore them all day on Thanksgiving and my feet did not hurt one bit. Jokes on me because now it is snowing and freezing out so I probably won’t get to wear them again until Spring. But I know I will wear them a ton. These are a really cute, less expensive alternative.
- Is this not the cutest sweater for little girls?! I’m resisting the urge to buy it haha. Sloane is in a pink phase right now so I know she would actually wear it.
- This gingerbread house looks like a cute activity for kids! They can draw on it and get creative and it’s only $10.
- Sloane has been obsessed with suckers and is asking for them all the time now. I found these that are actually good for your teeth and help to clean them too. I am going to order these and see if she notices they have no sugar in them haha.
- I bought myself this heated blanket during all the Cyber deals and I’m so excited. I used to have one and was always wrapped up in while I work. It died a year or so ago and I truly miss it so much, especially lately because it has been so cold. Very excited for this purchase to come!
- I thought this sequin dress was really cute for a NYE party and it’s only $35! I really love the brown but it also comes in black too.
- I’m going to Mexico in February for my girlfriends 40th birthday and I’m in love with this bathing suit (I also love this brown too!). I’ve never splurged on a bathing suit but I might have to try this one.
- I’m dying over this Barbie coffee table book! I have a huge Barbie collection from when I was a kid so I really feel like I need this one! It’s really cute too because Sloane loves to look thru my coffee table books and I think she would really like this one too.
- Also thought these sandals were really cute with the low heel. They would be perfect for my trip!
- This would be a really cute gift idea for the dog lover! I really want this of Addie to hang in my home.
