Finding the best skin care beauty products can be very difficult. There are so many different products on the market, it can be hard to know where to even start. About a year ago, I was sick of breaking out all the time. So I finally decided to change up my routine and I sought help from a dermatologist. With her advisement, I changed up my products and was finally on my way to better skin. To my surprise, everything she recommended I could get at my local drugstore. I have to admit, at first I was a little skeptical. In my opinion, the more you spend on a product the better it should work for you, but that is just not always the case. A year or so later and my skin is so much better with less breakouts. I also have some extra money in my wallet! Here is what I consider the best skin care products from the drugstore:
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser– I wash my face with this product twice a day and I am in love with this cleanser. Its gentle and effective all at the same time. The cleanser gets all of my makeup off after a long day without being too harsh. In my opinion, a good cleanser is soooo important. If you are using something too harsh for you skin, it will make you break out and no one wants that! Cetaphil also makes these wipes which are perfect for when you are on the go!
Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM– This is one of the best moisturizers I have ever used! It’s lightweight and doesn’t make my face feel greasy, but it locks in moisture so my skin doesn’t dry out. I use the PM lotion for both day and night because I like the thickness of this moisturizer (you can find the AM lotion here). Usually during the summer months, when I don’t need as mush moisture I will switch to the AM version in the mornings and use the PM lotion at night, but it all depends on what I feel my skin needs and your preference.
Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Eye Cream– I love, love, love this eye cream! My eyes tend to get very dry, but I also have very sensitive eyes, so it can be hard to find something that works for my needs. I randomly picked this up one day while at the drugstore and I have used it ever since. I apply this twice a day- once in the morning and once at night with my ring finger. You need to be very careful when applying eye cream as this area is very sensitive.
Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter Lip Balm– This is one of my new favorite lip balms that I just had to try. I remember seeing an advertisement for it about a year ago, but I couldn’t find it anywhere! I was always one the search for it, until one day I realized the drugstore merchandised this product with the lotions (doesn’t make sense to me! It should be with the other lip balms!). I love slathering a bunch of this on my lips before bedtime so I wake up with smooth lips.
Almay Oil Free Makeup Remover– I know this technically isn’t considered skin care, but I think of it that way because it’s part of my routine when I take my makeup off at night. I love that it takes all the makeup off while using minimal product and it doesn’t leave my eyes feeling greasy. This remover has been part of my beauty routine since high school!
Aveeno Product + Hydrate Lotion Suncreen SPF 50– This is the one step that I don’t aways remember to do. Wearing sunscreen daily, especially on your face is so important! You don’t always realize how harsh the sun can be or if you will be outside for long periods of time. Applying sunscreen daily and making it a habit is a good routine to get into. Plus it helps prevent wrinkles and let’s be honest- none of us want any wrinkles!!
My skin is very sensitive so I do a lot of research before I try new products and switch up my routine. And I think the most important take away is that you can still have great skin and not spend thousands of dollars on products or treatments (not saying that doesn’t help though!). Some of the best products are right at your local drugstore! It’s all about finding the best combination for your skin and what works for you. Oh and water- make sure you drink lots of water in addition to using the right products to get flawless skin 🙂
