Ever since we moved in, I knew I wanted to add bamboo shades to all of our windows. I just love the look of them and they bring a lot of warmth and texture into your space. You might remember, but back in November we had our custom bamboo shades installed in our play room/family room. I actually got them for my birthday haha. And they turned out better than I could imagine. You can see them in this reel here or in this post here.
I knew eventually we would slowly add them to the rest of our home, but I would have to find another source because our play room ones were $$$. They were 100% worth it and I’m so glad we went in that direction. The window on our back wall is huge and I was having a really hard time even finding anything that would be big enough to cover that window, so unfortunately custom was the only way we could go. It was kind of a nice buffer though because I was able to work with someone and ask questions about our windows and really just learn. The rest of our house has standard size windows, so I’ve been on the hunt for a more affordable option.
Enter Lustrowin! They sell custom bamboo blinds that fit the exact measurements of your windows. And they had exactly what I was looking for. When Lustrowin asked if I would partner with them it was a no brainer! I was gifted product for an Instagram reel but was not required to do a blog post. I just wanted to talk about them more in depth here 🙂
First, I ordered samples which I highly recommend. I ordered this book and this book. Things can look a little different online than they do in real life. I also wanted to get as close to my bamboo blinds in our play room as I could. The color doesn’t match exactly, but it is really close. The texture of the blinds is the exact same though. It doesn’t bother me because they are separate rooms and I doubt anyone but myself would even ever notice they were different.
I knew the next room I wanted to finish was my dining room! On my search for affordable bamboo blinds, I was also having trouble finding anything that was short enough. As you will see below, my windows are very short in this area. I swear in our old home it’s always something! And this was just another obstacle I would have to overcome. I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that Lurstrowin offered shorter lengths and that it would be able to fit my windows exactly. It wouldn’t have been the end of the world to me if they were a little longer in length. You just wouldn’t want to pull them down all the way. But after see how perfect my custom bamboo shades are in our play room, I was determined to find that custom look on a budget.
Before

Last summer I added these white curtains and thought they looked great, but I always knew eventually I would add bamboo shades as well.
Installation
They were so easy to install! It came with all the hardware and you only need a drill. We don’t own a drill so we called my brother in law to help us. So he ended up installing them for us and they were a breeze. Took him all of maybe 30 minutes to hang them and that was with a lot of talking too haha.
After

I love the way they turned out! It just adds that nice little bit of texture and warmth that is needed for this space. In the end, I decided to get them unlined so you see how the light still filters thru. We will probably never use these, so they are really more decor than anything. I’ve just never needed to block out the sunlight for any reason in this room, but they are there if we do need it. Since this room has pretty small windows and that is our only light source, I wanted plenty of light to still show thru.
My Exact Bamboo Shades
Mine our the Gullfloss Flax Jute Roman Shade, color coffee, inside mount, cordless, unlined with no binding. See how much you can customize! They have directions on their site on how to measure so definitely read that when you are measuring. We measured at least 10 times haha. I really wanted to make sure we had it exact. And since we did an inside mount, they say to subtract 3/8 of an inch from your calculations. I am really good at math but apparently I forgot how fractions work lol. I ended up emailing customer service and they helped to confirm my measurement which was super helpful!
All around, I had a really great and positive experience with my bamboo shades. I do plan to add these to my living room and staircase windows sooner rather than later. And then down the line I am going to add them to our bedrooms and office as well!
