This is actually my holiday mantle from last year. But I loved it so much last year that I re-created the same thing again this year. It is truly so easy. And anyone can get this simple and classic holiday mantle.
The Garland

…
The most important part to my holiday mantle is the garland! I really wanted that classic look, so I went with this garland from Afloral (also available here on Amazon) and it’s the most perfect garland. It looks and almost feels real, but you don’t have the mess of the real deal. I do think it’s a little thin. In the pictures online it looks really full, but once you see it in real life it’s not as bulky. So that means you are probably going to need more than you think in order to get that really full look.
My mantle is 7′ long and I took five of these garlands. They do also make this one that is 180″ long vs. this one that is 60″ long. The longer one is nice to use on your stairs, around doorframes, etc. I also just saw this one that is a deluxe garland and it looks much fuller! If I were to buy new garland today, I would probably go with this deluxe version. It’s more expensive, but in the end I bet you need less in order to make it look full.
How to Install It
I don’t really have any tips or tricks to install your garland to perfect your holiday mantle. I take my garland and fluff it up. It needs that after being in storage all year. Then I start with the one side that drapes longer and sort of just lay it on my mantle. And then I keep adding more garland and intertwining it until I make it to the other side. I don’t use any zip ties or command hooks because mine just stays. But if you need extra reinforcement that is what I would use!
The Extra Details
Once the garland is hung, I add my stockings. I really like these stocking holders because you don’t see them and they can tuck easily under the garland. These are the stockings I’ve had for years! I love that Pottery Barn carries these year after year, so as our family grows over the years I just keep adding to our collection.
Last year I added these bows to our boxwoods which I think turned out adorable. I keep the boxwoods out year round, but adding the bows to them makes it feel a little more special.
I should probably buy some fun artwork for our Samsung TV so it would look better in the background! I will add that to my list this year haha.
I really love how classic this holiday mantle is. It looks gorgeous as is in this simple state or you can use it as a starting ground to add to it every year. I am a big do a few big things each year for Christmas decor. The garland will be a big investment. So do that one year. And then maybe the next add new stockings or some bows. Down the road I would love to add some berry picks, bells or maybe a big bow at the end.
