So when did bedding become so expensive?! Do people really pay upwards of $300-$400 on a duvet cover! I honestly think that’s just crazy. I’ve been searching high and low to replace our current bedding. We got our set for our wedding which was six (almost seven) years ago. My taste has changed a lot since then. I knew I wanted to use it which we have now for a couple of years, but eventually update it all white bedding- are you surprised haha?! I was set out to find affordable bedding that didn’t cost me an arm and a leg.
Insert one of my favorite affordable home retailers- Target. They have this new line out by Casaluna and I had heard a lot of chatter about it on Instagram, especially this blanket. The reviews were good, so I decided to take a chance and order it!
I decided to order the duvet first (which also comes with two shams), mainly because I knew that would make a big impact. It was exactly what I was looking for- a nice linen duvet. At first, I was a little turned off with the zipper closure at the bottom, but the more I thought about it, the better I liked the idea. It is a huge pain having to button all of those buttons all the time! We wash our duvet cover frequently because our animals shed so much. And this just seemed like it would make it way easier to get on and off.
I will say I have been happy with the duvet. It has held up beautifully, is a great weight, looks really nice and I think it will actually last. But of course there are a few downsides. The duvet is really heavy for some reason when you are washing it. It gets tangled all the time in the dryer and gets really heavy. It’s hard to explain. I have to get Kurt to help me untangle it usually. And the zipper on the bottom is so easy to use, but it doesn’t go all the way to the end. So it makes it a little more difficult to get the down insert in. I have figured it out, but it would be way easier if they would have just made the zipper a little longer.
And I also got this blanket by the same brand. I am obsessed with it!! It is so cozy and it’s huge! Kurt actually sleeps with it every night so you know it’s good. And I just love the way it looks.
Last up in my quest for affordable bedding were these euro pillows. This is another item that I was asking myself WHY are they so expensive?! I couldn’t get over it and the fact that I needed three of them just made the cost add up that much faster. Anyway, these are only $30 a piece AND they came with the insert. Still seems a little pricey, but much less than what I was finding. They did have a few loose strings which I had to snip when I first bought them. But for the price, they look great!
Overall, I’m really happy with how our new & affordable bedding has turned out!
