…
I was so excited to decorate this year for Fall, but especially my front porch! In years past, I always decorated our balcony in Chicago. But Kurt and I were the only ones who were able to enjoy it. No one could see if from the street because we were so high up. I might have went a little crazy with all the pumpkins and mums this year, but I love how it turned out. I wanted to keep things short and sweet today and share everything I used to decorate my fall front porch!
- First off, I painted our front door black. It was red before- RED! We have a yellow house and those colors just don’t go together. You can see the before in this post. I got a quote to have all three of our exterior doors painted and it was wayyy more than I wanted to spend. So I decided it was going to be my first DIY project. I still have some touch ups to do and wow, it is a lot harder than it looks. But I love the results!
- I bought these planters from Walmart. And for the price I am pretty impressed with them. I added a brick to the bottom of the planter to give my mum a little height.
- I also added this wreath to the front door. Originally, I had also bought this wreath hanger but I think my door was too tall for it and it just didn’t fit correctly. I might have to rethink it for next year because I really like it and want to use it. I ended up attaching my wreath with a command hook.
- And I couldn’t resist this adorable doormat. Back in Chicago I always had to resist the urge to buy cute holiday doormats because we had zero storage. But now that I have a basement and garage- let the holiday mats commence!
- Once I had my decor pieces I went to the local nursery and bought my pumpkins and mums. You will likely need a lot more than you think, so stock up. I didn’t want to buy planters for all of my mums so I tilted the pumpkins around so it sort of hide the plastic containers the mums came in. And then I started to stack my pumpkins going from biggest and then filling in with smaller pumpkins. It look me about 10 minutes in all to decorate. There is no right or wrong way to decorate!
I’m so proud of how my fall front porch turned out this year ๐
