It is now that time of year- time for gift guides!! I always have so much fun shopping for these and thinking about what I will gift to people on my list each year. I actually think I am kind of late to the game this year as many have already started to shop! And I do urge you to shop early this year. Shipping delays are expected with everything that has gone on. I have actually experienced this first hand with ordering from my favorite retailers. Things are just taking longer right now, so don’t wait! I actually need to remind myself this haha. I usually wait until very last minute and then I’m scrambling! My girlfriend actually kicked me into high gear a couple weeks ago now. She was like don’t wait this year! You won’t get it in time…..and she has a great point.
Today I’m starting my series with a gift guide for your parents and in-laws. They are always the hardest to shop for in my opinion because they have everything! And if they don’t have it- they just go out and buy it for themselves. We are sort of lucky at least for my in-laws because they moved and downsized their home a few years ago. So I always know I gift them some great home items.
A few other things to note that aren’t on the gift guide. I didn’t realize this, but you can gift a subscription to Amazon or Costco for the year which I think is the perfect gift. I’ve recently become obsessed with Costco (my mom actually has a membership to Sam’s Club so I go there when we travel home). You get so much more product for way less in cost. The first time I went, I went a little crazy haha. I’ve never spent that much before, but it was all stuff we needed and will use. We finally have enough storage that we can really stock up.
And I always like to gift pictures from the year in a nice picture frame like this one. We usually give them Addie’s school picture from the year because it’s just too cute and funny! Or I like to frame images from our Christmas card that year. Another great idea is to make a photo book. All really great ideas that are sentimental that we all know parents or in-laws would love.
Gift Guide for Your Parents and In-Laws
Cutting Board | Diffuser | Drying Rack | Pan | Cake Stand | Mug & Warmer Set | Gray Malin Rockefeller Center Tree | Doormat
…
Cutting Board– This has been on my wish list for a while now and I love the white. They are great for entertaining and making a huge cheese platter. Or they look beautiful on display on your countertop or behind your stove. This is a great gift!
Diffuser– I saw this on Instagram and think it is one of the coolest gifts this season! It is a diffuser that you plug in, but you can also control it from your phone. And with this set you get two scents from Nest, which I know will smell absolutely divine. In years past, I’ve purchased their holiday candles and wow, they smell amazing. You can also buy other scents here and here. I know a lot of people get nervous about burning candles, so this is a great alternative. Your home still smells wonderful and if you forget to turn it off, you can check it on your phone.
Drying Rack– For some reason, I always associate my parents and in-laws with doing the dishes haha. Probably because when we are home, we are always eating and then cleaning it up! This is a really cool drying rack that can be rolled up when you aren’t using it. And it lays over a part of your sink so it doesn’t take up any space on your counters. I also like that when the dishes are drying, the water falls back into the sink so no wet towels to deal with. And I think this actually makes you put your dishes away when they are dry. I’m sitting here typing this and our dish mat is packed with clean dishes that haven’t been put away yet. I should probably get to that haha!
Pan– This is another gift that I’ve seen all over Instagram, but I am completely intrigued by it. People claim that it is the best pan they have ever cooked with. It cooks food nicely and is the easiest clean up ever. And you can cook a multitude of different items in this pan, including boiling and steaming because it is a little deeper than a traditional pan. I have already bought this for someone on my list and I’m trying to convince Kurt we need one too! It also comes in six different colors, but my personal favorite is the blue. Use code YUMMY for $30 off.
Cake Stand– I absolutely love this brand. And if we ever need to replace our dishes, this is the brand I will be doing that with. They are just so pretty and classic! When you think of your parents or in-laws you are usually with them when you are celebrating something- so why not gift them this cake stand. Your celebratory get together’s will now be that much prettier!
Mug & Warmer Set– Another thing I always associate my parents or in-laws with is drinking coffee. Parents are obsessed with it. And this mug warmer is pretty neat, so their coffee never gets cold!
Gray Malin Rockefeller Center Tree– Gray Malin is one of my all time favorite photographers and I can’t wait to own one of his pieces someday. My mom and I went to NYC two years ago for Christmas and it was one of the best trips ever (I wrote about it in this post here). We have always dreamed of going so we finally did and I can’t wait to go back. I’m not really a huge fan of NYC (it’s too dirty for me), but there is something so magical about the city during the holidays. I love this print because it would be a nice momentum of our trip. Someday I will gift this to my mom and also buy one for myself haha.
Doormat– I was actually thinking my in-laws would like this to spruce up their front door at their new home. Don’t wait on this item as personalized items usually take a little longer.
