With any luxury purchase that I make, I love to eventually review the item and share my likes/dislikes. I know when I go to make a luxury purchase I google and read an obscene amount of blog posts on the item I have my eye on before I take the plunge. I need to be reassured and then reassured again that I am spending my money wisely! So today I’m bringing you my Hermès Oran sandals review.
Hermès Oran Sandals Review
This sandal is truly classy and one that I feel will never, ever go out of style. It comes in 40 different colors which I think says a lot about the sandal, but in my opinion the gold (tan) is truly classic. And I love that this color lends to both spring, high summer and can be worn well into the fall season (especially if you are in a southern state). Right off the bat, the sandal is a little more stiff, but I find that with a lot of designer shoe purchases. You really have to give the leather and soles time to break in. After a year of now owning these sandals, they are like second natural to me and so incredibly comfortable. I reach for them at least a few times a week.
Sizing
I found the Hermès Oran sandal to run true to size. I am usually a size 8 and if anything sometimes I can size down to a 7.5. In this sandal, I took a 38.5, but they fit like a glove! I was thissss close to buying a half size down, except my big toe hung over too much and my ankle in the back looked kind of strange. They were just too small. So going up a half size was perfect. Typically in designer shoes I go up a full size to a 39, so these I would likely only go up a half size if that helps!
Comfort
Overall I find them to be very comfortable and have no issues wearing them on a daily basis. Initially they were a little stiff like a lot of designer shoes, but I’ve never gotten any blisters from them. I would probably not recommend wearing them or any sandal for that matter if you are planning on walking a ton. They are comfy, but I prefer a sneaker in that instance.
Price
I paid $630 plus tax in Chicago. And well worth it in my opinion. I know I will own these for years and years. I bought them last spring and was giddy to get them out of storage to wear again this summer!
Pros
Classic & Timeless Style
This is a sandal that is never going to go out of style, especially if you choose a classy color like the gold (tan). This is the type of shoe that will still look fresh year after year, season after season.
Seasonless
I choose this gold (tan) color specifically because I knew it would take me effortlessly from season to season. This color is fresh in the spring time when you are first able to wear sandals. And this color is gorgeous for those warmer fall days with jean shorts and an oversized sweater. Truly you can wear them anytime of the year. Ok, maybe not winter haha. But if you live in a warm climate this is the perfect color for every season.
Goes with any style
I have seen very trendy people wear these to very classy people. They are truly a wardrobe staple to so many. They fit a lot of different styles, so if you are worried about your style changing over the years, I truly think this is an item that can evolve with you.
Cons
Took a little bit to break in
This is pretty common with all designer shoes, but they took a little bit of breaking in. I will mention the first time I ever wore them was when we went to San Diego last year. We did a ton of walking that day and honestly my feet only started to hurt towards the end of the day. The little toes started to hurt. But that was the only discomfort I have ever felt from them minus them being a little stiff. I’ve owned my pair for a year now and they are honestly so incredibly comfortable and have formed to my feet.
The square back took some getting use to
This is a little random, but it has taken me some getting use to. The style of the shoe is very square looking. And honestly I wasn’t use to it all at first. I kept thinking maybe I got the incorrect size because of how they would fit or I was nervous maybe my feet were too fat haha for the style of the shoe. But honestly, it was all in my head. Once I wore them a few times and got them broken in, I have loved them and don’t even think about it anymore.
Where to Buy
I bought mine at the Hermès boutique in Chicago. I personally recommend finding a store that sells them….or traveling to Chicago! You can purchase these online, but I find sizing to be very difficult especially in designer shoes. Sometimes I go up a full size and sometimes only up a half size like with this pair.
I know there are a ton of look a like’s these day so I will tag them in the widget below. Personally, I would say save for real deal because this is a style you will wear for years and years! If you need help saving for your new shoes, I wrote about how I save for all of my fun, luxury purchases in this post! I hope you enjoyed my Hermès Oran sandals review and it persuaded you to the the plunge haha!
