If you haven’t tried the shortalls trend yet- you are really missing out! First off I think the word shortall is really funny. It is essentially a made up word, but it works perfectly. Shorts + Overalls = Shortalls- get it?! haha. I, myself, was a little iffy about the trend, but I have seen so many other people wearing them and they look adorable! I decided to order a pair and try them on. And I was pleasantly surprised!
A couple of weeks ago, I did a try on session on Instagram stories and this was one of your favorites! I got so many DM’s on these, so I thought I would share all the details with you on the blog!
I seriously feel like a kid again wearing them! Back in the day, I was obsessed with shortalls. Except I don’t remember calling them shortalls- I remember them as overalls. But who is keeping tabs anyway? I wore them all time. And I wore them with only one strap clasped and the other one would hang down my back. I thought I was so cool!
In my opinion you should keep your shortalls outfit pretty simple. I decided to pair it with my favorite white tee for an easy, casual look. I also think they would look super cute paired with a white button up like this one and a pair of wedges, which would make them a little more dressy.
On another note, I want to share some amazing beauty products that I just started using. The other day, I was in Nordstrom and was looking for a new foundation. The one I was currently using is a matte formula which was great for shine, but at the end of the day it was making my skin look very dry (this is the one I was using). So, I stopped at the Charlotte Tilbury counter and asked to try a foundation. Well the makeup artist went into his whole speech and beauty routine and I was leaving with a ton of new products I wanted to try.
I actually didn’t mind it though because there were a few products he used on me that I have been wanting to test out anyway. I ended up taking home this makeup primer (I’m shade 2), which does a few things. You can use it on it’s own when you want lighter coverage for the day. It can be used as a highlighter. Or it can be used under your makeup as a primer, which is how I plan on using it. It gives you that perfect dewy glow.
I also took home this foundation in shade 3.5. And after only a few days of using it, I love it! It is a great match shade wise for me. I hate when foundation makes you look too orange, which is what my last foundation was doing. I like my face to look natural and it can be hard to match foundation if you are fair skinned like myself. The makeup artist also told me I would love this foundation because it has anti aging benefits in it and also has Vitamin C in it which will help reduce my acne scaring I have.
But the best product I took home with me was this moisturizer! I have gotten a sample of this before, used it and loved it! But I was hesitant on buying the full jar of it. The smell really threw me for a loop. Personally, I don’t like the smell of it at all. It is overpowering and smells like roses. Which might sound good, but to me the scent is way to strong. In the past, I’ve had allergic reactions to products that have strong scents and I thought that this would do the same for me.
The makeup artist assured me if I didn’t like it or I had a reaction, to bring it back immediately (gotta love Nordstrom!). I’ve used this night and day over the last couple of days and I can attest I am already hooked! The scent has not bothered me at all. And I know this is pricey, but I use the tiniest amount- you really don’t need a lot! It is a thicker cream so you really only need a thin layer. The makeup artist told me it would last three months, but I think I could stretch it even further. I have barely put a dent in it yet!
I have already noticed my skin looking smoother, more radiant and it is helping combat some dark spots I have on my skin. They are lighter and less noticeable. He gave me some samples of the night cream and the eye cream, which I haven’t used yet. But I have a feeling I will be in love with those products too!
And one product I am super excited to try is this mask. He put it on one of my hands while he was doing my makeup. After he rubbed it off after about 10 minutes you could noticeable see a HUGE difference in my skin compared to my other hand. I was in shock! Imagine what this could do for your face?!? I was given a sample, so I’m going to test it out before I buy it but I am so excited for some really great new skincare products! I am working on a blog post of my skincare routine and a good moisturizer was the last piece I needed to find- so be on the lookout for that soon!
Ok, back to the shortalls. I love them and they are so cute on. I haven’t gotten a chance to wear them very much since it’s been chilly in Chicago. But these will be a go to for me!
