Today is a very special day because it is my husband’s birthday! He deserves only the best today so I thought it would be fun for Kurt to write today’s post so you can get to know my Instagram husband a little better. You don’t see it, but he is heavily involved in Cashmere & Jeans. He takes all of photos, is the one who helps celebrates the little milestones and also encourages me the most!
If you have any sort of relationship with Kurt you will know that he is obsessed with our animals. Yes we have multiples in our tiny Chicago apartment! We have two cats and one puppy and our lives revolve around them. Kurt is the funniest person I know and every day is always entertaining. He also has the biggest heart and would do anything for me, our family or any of our friends. I hope you enjoy getting to know Kurt a little better and also if you see him today- wish him a happy birthday!
(All of these questions have been answered by Kurt)
Do you actually like taking pictures for Amanda’s blog?
Yes and no. At times it can be a bit overwhelming when we take pictures on a Sunday after having to work the Saturday the day before, but I enjoy how much enjoyment I can see Amanda gain from this whole experience.
What advice do you have for an Instagram Husband?
Be very open minded. Treat it as a way for you and your wife to spend some unique time together that is different from your regular routine. And be patient. The lighting will not always be the best. You cannot control the weather, and windy days are inevitable. Becoming frustrated will not allow you to enjoy this experience in the long run.
Out of all 3 of your animals, who is your favorite?
This is the toughest question imaginable. Frank was our first born furbaby and has been through a lot. Addie has naturally forced us both to make drastic changes in our lives that not only helped us become healthier individuals, but also allowed us to become much more responsible people. Addie has been so needy right from the first day we brought her home. However, in the end if I had to choose who is my overall favorite I would have to say that Charlie ultimately would win every single time.
I had adopted Charlie almost 7 years ago after I first moved to Chicago slightly out of pure boredom. We adopted him from the humane society and he was only about 4 months old but extremely frail and sick from recent surgery. Plus he had ear mites and flees all over his body. I did not move to Chicago with very much money and knew nursing Charlie back to health would be costly so I cut back on all spending even on food for myself. As much weight I had lost during the first year with Charlie it was worth the sacrifice. He has proven to countless visitors who normally would say they grew up not liking cats that Charlie’s warmth and outgoing personality had changed their perception of something they once thought they did not like.
Are you more of a dog person or cat person?
Another tough question. Both really. I am a dog person because I enjoy the countless activities a dog provides for us whether its weekend trips to the Montrose dog beach or taking Addie to the dog park every single day after work regardless if its -5 degrees or 95 degrees. It’s a bond that continues to build between Addie and I every day we are together.
And I am a cat person because many refer to me as the catman. I regularly enjoy watching ridiculous cat videos on YouTube but I also enjoy seeing my baby Charlie show just how similar our personalities are that its another bond you cannot break. No matter how miserable a tough day at work can be I look forward to coming home each and every day knowing that all three of our furbabies are going to greet me with so much love and affection. It makes me who I am today.
Why are you so skinny?
I develop routines that I rarely change. Since I was about 16 years old I had always genetically had high cholesterol and knew if I didn’t change my eating habits that I would have to be put on more medications. So 2.5 years ago I did my own research on what foods you should and should not eat and since then I have basically eatin the same meals every single day. I enjoy it. I look forward to eating the same thing for breakfast and lunch. I have no idea how I do not get bored of it but it’s a great habit that I created and hope that it lasts the rest of my life.
My company also encouraged us to purchase stand up desks. It makes all the difference in the world. All day every day at work all of the pain I used to have in my neck and back from sitting all day has gone away. But I also burn calories for 8-10 hrs every day. Factor in all of that with about 2 miles/day worth of walks to and from the dog park. I rarely find myself having a minute to sit and relax. But again I enjoy it.
What do you do for a living?
I am a third party logistics broker for Coyote Logistics and every day is an adventure
Does Amanda’s shopping ever bother you?
Almost never. I believe she knows how to have self control so I trust her that she wont overspend too much that would put us in a bind.
You are always so happy, is there anything that makes you tick?
Yes. Besides my loving wife, my animals lol. If ten years ago you would have asked back in Michigan where would I see myself in 5-10 years, I never would have guessed in Chicago, married, with 2 cats and 1 dog actually enjoying my career talking to truck drivers that I can consider my dear friends. I would have told myself 10 years ago you’re lying.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
Honestly like I said above, I could have answered this question 10 years ago (the answers would have been incorrect in the end) so this makes me feel like I don’t have the slightest clue where we will be at in 5-10 years. But I do see our family continuing to grow over the next years and the rest will fall into place.
Menswear Picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
And because the Nordstrom anniversary sale is still going on, I wanted to share of my favorite items from the men’s section. We can’t forget about them too when shopping for Fall! Except every time I ask Kurt what he thinks he will need for Fall, he just stares at me and says he can’t think about Fall yet haha. He is defiantly more of a summer guy and hates Fall, which is so funny because I am completely the opposite. I LOVE Fall and love all the fun fall activities you can do. But I get it because it sort of is the precursor to winter-which no one likes!
Wishing the best Instagram husband a very happy birthday today- love you!!
