Pj’s (from last year, but still fit! I love this brand for that reason alone)
…
I unintentionally took a little hiatus from the blog these last few weeks! Like many families, we have been overcome with sickness and I just did not have the energy to do anything with this space. It was a rough last few weeks, but I am now hoping we are on the other side of things. Fingers crossed!
And just like that it’s Christmas week. I know everyone says this, but the last few months have really flown by. Wasn’t it just summer? I took the easy route with just about everything this holiday season- gift cards for all. And it’s made things a lot more relaxing and stress free. Although, I will say I’ve had some major guilt that we aren’t doing enough. Or making Christmas feel special enough. We’ve been sick so that has really been our number one priority to get better! But social media does have it’s way of making you feel like you are missing out. Did we do enough? Did we check all the boxes this holiday season? I keep second guessing myself.
But the answer is- yes. Yes we did do enough. And yes, it’s been a wonderful holiday season thus far. Someone on social media posted that their family was already starting to celebrate Christmas this week even though it’s technically ‘early’. They made hot chocolate, sat by the fire and watched Christmas movies. She had a great point because you never know if you are going to be sick this weekend or not! And I really liked that philosophy and it hit home. It’s the little things that you do this holiday season. You don’t have to run to a million different events to feel festive. Hot chocolate and a Christmas movie or two at home is just as festive.
In fact lately, I have been starting to clean up my inbox and also my social media. Unsubscribing from emails and retailers I don’t want anymore. And unfollowing people on Instagram who no longer inspire me. Social media can be overwhelming this time of year and it’s been refreshing to ‘clean’ mine up a bit. I’ve felt a little uninspired about the people I’m following lately. Everyone is sharing the same damn thing over and over and over again. Gifts for this person, and this person. I’m over it, truly. I’m sticking with the ones who inspire me moving forward.
I do always feel like this time of year gets a little old and stale, but for some reason this year feels more eye opening. Maybe because I haven’t spent a lot of time lately on my phone. Actually it’s been a nice little break from it all. I’m ready to get back regularly scheduled content 🙂 Just when things get a little boring if you will, the new arrivals hit and gives you some fresh inspiration.
Here are some things I’ve found around the web lately:
- I’m obsessed with this new pink color in my favorite leggings.
- Do you have a fancy NYE party this year? Please buy this dress. Or this one! I am obsessed with both. The black one would even be gorgeous if you have a winter wedding to attend this year.
- I feel like since becoming a mom, I am always doing dishes! Well, I finally decided I needed a new pair of gloves and it puts a little smile on my face sliding my hands into this pretty purple pair. It’s the little things these days!
- I’ve been playing furniture switch a roo and the lamp I originally had in our living room looks a lot better in our play room. So I ordered this one for our living room and I am really impressed with the quality, especially for the price. I’m not a huge fan of the lamp shade, so I might eventually replace that with this one or this one. Haven’t decided yet!
- Obsessed with this top! It would be perfect with jeans for NYE.
- There are so many new spring arrivals lately and it has been really excited for better weather! And makes me wish we had a trip planned. How adorable is this dress, this blouse, this dress, this dress, this top and this top.
- I’m not in the market for a new winter coat, but if I was, OMG the color on this one!! PS- they are absolutely worth the hype too. I have one and have it for years (and still plan to wear it for many years) and it is the warmest thing I own.
- Need a last minute stocking stuffer and something fun for the kids- these were a big hit this weekend. I made all the kids wear them and take a pic and it was pretty adorable!
- I just ran out and had to replace my disposable placemats. I keep these in Sloane’s diaper bag and we use them at restaurants when we are out. It makes things easy to clean up at the end of the meal and gives her something to look at. These are a must for me!
- I bought this for Sloane for Thanksgiving and I know we will use it again this weekend. It makes eating on the go so much easier. She has a comfortable place to eat so everyone is happy haha.
- Sloane’s skin has been extra dry lately so I ordered this for her to try. And her skin is back to normal so it has worked wonders. I love that there is no scent either if you have a sensitive baby.
- I recently started using this face mask again once a week. And, wow. I’m truly obsessed with the results from it. The next morning after using it, I always see a noticeable difference in my texture, glow, fine lines.
Old Blog Posts
I think in these posts I am also going to start sharing a couple old blog posts from the past! Don’t sleep on the best chocolate chip cookies! Here is the recipe I use and my tips. Seriously the best!!
Relive our trip to NYC at Christmas in this post. I have to admit, I’m not a huge fan of New York. But there is something very special about it at Christmas time. I can’t wait to go back again some day!
Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!
