It’s been a little bit of a crazy week over here. We ended up having to take Sloane to the hospital Monday night, which was a little scary. We knew she was sick when she came home from school and she went to bed fine, but woke up about an hour later and things were just off. I called her pediatrician and he said he would feel better if we went to the emergency room, so we did. All is okay and we are on the mend, but it’s always a little scary taking your child to the hospital.
So it’s been kind of a crazy week over here! Managing work, your house, animals, and trying to get some time for yourself is never easy when you have a sick one that needs you 24/7. Not complaining one bit. I’m just always humbled when she is sick because so much goes to the waste side when she isn’t feeling her best. And also, I don’t know how moms and dads do with multiple kids!
This week was school pictures at Sloane’s school and I can hardly wait to see them! Last year, she gave a very funny and mean looking face. And I think it is going to be the same this year. Her teachers told me that she was not having it haha.
A little update on our dog Addie- she is doing so much better! In case you missed it, she had surgery at the beginning of April because she hurt her leg. It’s been really hard, but she is doing really well. Every day it gets a little stronger and she is using it more and more. She can finally go on walks. Short walks! But at least she can get out of the house now. That has saved us all.
One small home improvement project that I finally checked off my list was hemming Sloane’s curtains. My girlfriend did the rest of ours for us which was so helpful! But Sloane’s are blackout so they are thicker and she didn’t have a needle strong enough. Well, I’ve put it off for months- I think over a year actually and it was the simplest project. I used this tape and ironed it on to the back. And just like that, they were the perfect length. And so much easier to vacuum now! You can see the finished product in my image above. Pretty good, right?!
Last week, I got my new blue chairs and rug delivered for our play room- you can see more pictures in this post. And I just love how this room is coming together. There is something to be said about moving slow in decorating. I’m so impatient and I just want things to be ‘done’ and ‘look perfect’. But moving slow has been so much better than I could have imagined. I’m not making impulsive decisions and I love everything that I am choosing because I am taking my time. What a concept!
I think I finally have made some decisions in regards to my powder bath mini update! I put it all together in a mood board that I am going to be sharing soon. And I just got some wallpaper samples that I am loving!! I am going to attempt peel and stick wallpaper myself. Has anyone done it?! Give me all the tips. But it can’t be that hard….right?! I plan on sharing my thought process and everything I plan to order on the blog soon.
And it wouldn’t be a life lately post without some shopping finds:
- Kind of a random find, but I really love these punchy colors of socks.
- I started using this eyebrow serum…and I’m happy to report it is actually working. My eyebrows have not been the same since I left Chicago. I miss my girl so much because she is the absolute best at brows. When I first moved to MI, I had a really bad experience and she ripped all my eyebrows off. I was pregnant and hormanal too, so it was not a good combo. My current eyebrow person has been telling me for a while that I need to try a serum. But I was a little skeptical. Well, it works. I’ve seen a ton of new growth. I will be back in Chicago in June and I decided I’m not going to touch my eyebrows. Let them grow as much as they can! And I am going to have my girl in Chicago work her magic. I might need to find an excuse to go back to Chicago every few months to see her haha.
- This is such a me dress! I’ve never really been a dress girl but the last few years I really love wearing them with sneakers in the spring and summer months. So I try and add a few to my collection now each year.
- I also really adore this dress. I thought it would be cute for the 4th of July.
- This is my new favorite white tee. Its the perfect length too. Not too cropped, but not too long. I sized up to a medium for a little extra length and I thought it would shrink a little. I love it so much I have four of them now ๐
- Is this not the most perfect lightweight sweater (I like the white)? I actually think it would be really cute with jeans and sneakers. Especially for those chilly summer nights.
- I think this visor is kind of cute for the pool. What do you think?! You know I love the color!
- I already know Sloane is going to live in these shoes all summer long. She was wearing them a few weeks ago when we had that really nice week and they are super easy to throw on her. I actually think they run big because I need to get her a size smaller.
- I always think its fun to see what random things people buy off Amazon, so here are a few recent purchases. Maybe I need to start adding this in each post! I replaced my deodorant, bought Sloane some lotion (this is the best because it is so hydrating on their skin!) and a new hair brush and bought myself these new hand weights. They make it so much easier to workout with.
- I adore this little cherry sweater for Sloane! I thought it would be cute for the Cherry Festival in Traverse City or will it be too hot by then? My parents live up there, so we I plan to take Sloane every year just I did as a kid!
- I ordered myself this sweatshirt and it is the cutest ever! It’s a really cute fit and I love the preppy collar on it. I got a size 1 which I think it like a size small. They are out of stock a lot, but sign up for notifications and they will email you when they are back in stock.
- I finally tried some products from Westman Atelier and the hype is real. They are really nice, which kind of surprised me. I got this blush that I am really liking, this highlighter and this lip gloss. I’m going to try their foundation sticks next. I just need to go into a store to get color matched.
- J.Crew has some really cute new arrivals like these ruffle shorts for the pool, these pull on linen shorts and this cute henley top.
