Balloon Garland | Sloane’s Skirt
…
Happy New Year! We had a really good new year this year. I had bought a few fun things for Sloane to help celebrate the holiday with. I bought these fun disco shaped cups, a balloon garland, this banner and I got Sloane this cute gold, sparkly skirt to wear. Kurt and I were both a little drained and burnt out to be honest. And I thought I was initially going to return it all and we were going to have a low key holiday. But we rallied and decided it would be a lot of fun.
So while Sloane was napping I got our house decorated. And she was so excited when she woke up from her nap! We had the best night too. We ended up doing a NYE countdown for her before bedtime with a balloon drop! She loved it so much I think we ended up doing it at least10 more times haha. And she came home from school the next day and was still saying Happy New Year and playing with all of the balloons. I think it’s safe to say, my party was a hit!
Next year we for sure need to invite some friends over and recreate it because it was really cute. A friend of mine was telling me that she had other friends that did a happy ‘noon’ year for their kids. And they celebrated NYE at noon with a balloon drop & lunch which I thought was such a cute idea. I’m going to have to remember that for next year!
We ended up cooking steaks and I made wedge salads with cupcakes for dessert. I used this blue cheese dressing recipe and omg, it was the absolute best! I will be making it again. Wedge salads are my absolute favorite and I don’t know why I haven’t made them before, but it won’t be the list time!
Kurt and I didn’t quite make it to midnight but we spent the night talking about home renovations, plans for the future, our home visions and even some personal goals. I have this really weird feeling that 2024 is going to be such a good year! I have some new years blog posts coming in the next few weeks, so I will be sharing home improvements we hope to make this year (I share this every year), my word of the year and more!
Lots of new arrivals this month, so lots of good shopping finds!
- Little Sleepies launched their Valentine’s Day collection and it always goes fast- so don’t wait! I ended up getting Sloane the pink pjs and this heart peplum top. This is my first time ordering anything from their play line so I’m excited to see how we like it. I find this brand runs big, but I always size up anyway so they last a couple of years. I got Sloane a 3t in both items.
- My favorite pajamas just launched their new arrivals for this month and I’m drooling. They are absolutely the best pjs you will wear- I’m hooked. My favorite is this green set and I adore the print on this set. I would also love to try one of their sweaters- the blue in this one is just gorgeous!
- I can’t stop thinking about these raffia slides. They would be adorable for spring and into summer!
- This was our first year getting toys that had little pieces and I couldn’t take the un-organization much longer haha so I ordered these pouches and it solved the problem! I like that this set has multiple sizes and I thought the colors were really fun!
- Our crayon and marker situation was a mess too so I ordered this caddy and it’s been so nice and organized now. Plus it is really easy for Sloane to get out on her own.
- Target launched a lot of new arrivals last week and my top picks are this bowl, this picture frame and this tablecloth. Shop more of my picks here.
- I’ve been trying to talk myself out of this dress, but it is such a good deal and would be perfect for summer. I feel like I am missing dresses like this in my closet so I know I would wear this one a ton.
- I can never resist the cute plates that Target has for kids at every holiday. I’m going to order Sloane this one and this one for Valentine’s Day.
- Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I think I am going to order these heart shaped paint sets to pass out to Sloane’s classmates. They are so cute and I know the kids would actually use them too.
- I’ve been on an organizing kick lately as I think we all get into after the holidays. I have a few things in my cart to buy to, ya know, make life easier haha! These pull out shelves to put under my bathroom sinks, this cubed shelf to use as shoe storage at our back door, these lazy susans to add to my spice cabinet. But I also think these would be nice to use in the bathroom for skincare!
- Here is a really cute pair of pjs for your toddler for Valentine’s day that are under $20!
- My girlfriend had this necklace on and it was really cute and looked so much more expensive than what it is!
More Blog Posts
I wanted to share a couple blog posts that might be helpful this time of year.
Last year, I got our pantry organized and I’m really happy with how it turned out too. I have to clean it out every now and then (I actually just did this over the weekend), but we have kept the organization up. Which is really important when you are putting the investment into all of those canisters. The only difference now is that we keep a lot more snacks on that first shelf so Sloane can reach them herself. Read the post here.
If you are trying to cook more at home this year, check out my meal planning post. I do this every week and it has really helped to avoid the conversation- what’s for dinner. It’s already planned out! And I swear, I have saved so much money by cooking at home. I find that because I have a well stocked (and pretty!) pantry that when I go to cook a meal, I usually only have to buy a few ingredients which has cut down my grocery bill drastically.
2023 Best Sellers
I always think it’s interesting to see what everyone buys from me. Most of it is home dรฉcor which I love! The fact that people see my blog and pictures and like it so much that they want to purchase the same thing is a huge compliment to me ๐ Here are my top 5 best sellers from this year.
- These chairs are my top seller for the year. And have been for a few years now. Everyone clicks on the light blue ones which are just gorgeous. It is one of my favorite colors- my whole house is practically this color! You can read my review on them here.
- Everyone loves this rug (originally in our front entryway, but I moved it to the kitchen). And I would agree. It’s one of my favorite rugs- it’s absolutely gorgeous in person. You can see more photos of it in this post here.
- My dining room chandelier (also here) came in at number 3 this year. I knew I had to splurge on this chandelier when we moved and I have loved it ever since.
- This coffee table is almost an exact match to mine in our living room. One day I would love to upgrade to this one as I know the quality is probably so much better than ours. It’s really just so pretty.
- And lastly, this gingham rug that I have in our upstairs hallway. This was another item I knew I had to have somewhere in my home when we moved. And even with the light colors, it has held up surprisingly well. It’s still white haha despite the high traffic area so I say that’s a win!
Can’t say I’m surprised that all of my top sellers from this year are from Serena & Lily. I love that store just as much as you guys do!
Cheers to 2024! Excited for a new year!
