It feels like so long since I’ve done one of these posts. I know I have been slacking a little lately here on the blog, but it’s because we have been so busy!! I actually really hate when people say how busy they are alll the time. Maybe it’s a pet peeve of mine. I just don’t think you can be busy 24/7- it’s not healthy! I always need a break and I am usually really good at knowing what I can handle and what I can’t. Well, the month of July I overbooked us.
Most of it was because of Sloane’s birthday party. I am half joking when I say this, but I’m never doing that again haha. By the way, I am going to have all the details about it on the blog on Tuesday. We did almost all of it on our own so I’m excited to share more photos from the party. Anyway, we did a lot of things ourselves to save money which was great- but it just felt like all of our extra time was being poured into prepping for the party.
The other day, I was joking with Kurt because the weather finally cooled down a bit and we were able to open the windows and turn off the AC. I told him it was beginning to feel like Fall! For reference, I absolutely love everything about Fall, where Kurt hates it haha. He says it’s the precursor to winter which is never fun. There is just that crispness in the air lately that comes only during the Fall season.
I actually started to make my fall to-do list this year. Last year was our first Fall living back in Michigan and we had a newborn that we were still trying to figure out. So we didn’t really do much. Which looking back, I wish we would have gotten out more because she just slept all the time haha. First time parents I guess! I have lots of fun things planned this coming up season and I’m excited to experience them with Sloane.
Mackenzie-Childs had a big sale a couple of weeks ago and I ordered this pumpkin, this pumpkin and these pumpkins. So when the arrived, of course I had to put them out! Actually, it is way too early for pumpkin decor in my opinion, but I was too excited about them. I’m pretty excited to decorate this year. Last year, we had just moved and there was still a lot of stuff we needed like furniture, rugs, big ticket items so I didn’t buy anything new. When do you decorate for Fall? I usually do it around Labor Day weekend, but I’m always early for holidays haha.
Here are a few fun finds I have found while shopping this week:
- We have been looking around for a couch for our play room, previously called the den haha. My dad likes to call it the multi purpose room so it’s got lots of names. We have all of Sloane’s toys back there so I’m just gonna go with play room from now on. We currently have zero furniture back there excpet for the TV and it would be really nice to have somewhere to sit! I’ve had my eye on this one and we plan to go look at this weekend. The best part is the lead time isn’t too crazy.
- I am so in love with this sweater! Great transition piece as we head into Fall.
- Our next big renovation will be our powder bath on our first floor. I’m still deciding on a few things and recently came across this line at Serena & Lily and I’m obsessed! We have sconces already wired but the ones we have are hideous so they will need to be replaced. I can’t decide if I like the all white shade or the rattan shade better. What do you think?!
- I bought this dress the other day for a baby shower I have next month (currently on sale!). I’ve never bought anything from this brand before so I got an XS. Will share when I get it, but I thought it looked like the perfect dress to transition into Fall with. Also, very tempted to get this one too (also on sale!).
- This fitted sheet matches Sloane’s curtains perfectly (see her nursery details here)! I also really love their sheets for Sloane’s crib, they are all we own!
- On my Fall wish list this year is a pair of high top sneakers, how cute are these?!
- I have been really wanting to add retinol to my skincare routine. Although I am a little nervous about the peeling that it can cause- yikes. My mom has been using this one and says its really gentle. And her skin has been looking amazing because of it!
- How cute are these pj’s for Sloane? I saw they went on sale so I finally ordered them for her. This is a great brand that we love too. They last so much longer too because they stretch.
- This is the cutest dress ever and looks so cozy and adorable with sneakers! This is on my Fall wish list this year.
- This is another pair of sneakers I want to grab this Fall. Classic and a great price too.
