May is one of my absolute favorite months! It was a jammed pack month celebrating so many events! And the weather has finally warmed up, which means I actually want to get out and do things around the city.
First off was my girlfriends baby shower for her second baby. I hosted the event for her and it was so much fun! We had high tea at The Whitney in Detroit, MI and it could not have turned out more gorgeous! We felt so glamorous sipping tea and eating tiny sandwiches. It was so fun to catch up with some friends that I hadn’t seen in a while and getting to see my girlfriends growing belly.
And then Addie turned 3 on the 21! I seriously can’t get over that we have had her three years already. She has changed our lives in so many ways, it’s crazy. Surprisingly it was pretty chilly for your birthday, but Kurt spoiled her with a long trip to the dog park. And we got her a giraffe from one of of her favorite toy brands. Fluff and Tuff is the only brand I will buy her now. They are a little on the pricy side, but it is well worth it! Eventually she does destroy them, but it takes forever! These toys are really well made and durable. She still pulls out her flamingo (her fav), that she has had for over a year now.
To round the month out, we celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary on the 24th (see the post here). It seems like just yesterday we were married, but at the same time it feels like it has flown by. Does that even make sense? lol. We celebrated with dinner at Piccolo Sogno and the weather was perfection! They have this huge outdoor patio with lights and trees and ivy everywhere. It was honestly the perfect night. And the food was beyond good! I can’t believe this was our first time going there, but we will defiantly we back.
Every year I like to gift Kurt a traditional gift for our anniversary. I have no clue who made this up, but I think it’s a fun tradition to follow. Every year it is something different and the fourth wedding anniversary is flowers. I gave Kurt flowers that last a whole year! These are the ones I got him and they look so cute sitting on our desk. I decided to go with the mini to see how they lasted because they are so pricy!
Usually I am the only one who thinks this is a fun tradition but this year Kurt got into it too. And he surprised me with the most gorgeous bouquet! I am usually never surprised but I was not expecting this at all! And he still has one more present coming, but wanted my input on it since I am so picky. He wants to have a painting done of my wedding bouquet to hang on our wall. I thought it was such a good idea and so sweet of him!
Ok, now that you know my life story let’s get into my May favorites:
May Favorites
- Favorite purchase– I didn’t really do a lot of shopping until the end of the month so I have a ton of outfits I want to shoot for the blog and Instagram. The Memorial Day sales this year were too good to pass up. I’m absolutely obsessed with this sweater from J.Crew. I wore the grey one to work and feel in love with it. And then was out shopping the next day and picked up the black one. It is super lightweight and is perfect for those chilly nights or a freezing office.
- Favorite food– The only new place we tried was Piccolo Sogno on our anniversary and I don’t know why we waited so long! It is delicious and so fresh. The dessert was the best part. We were both stuffed but couldn’t seem to put our spoons down.
- Favorite beauty item– I just ordered this shampoo and conditioner. And after getting over the sticker shock, I’m completely hooked! As a blonde it is really hard to maintain your color. This shampoo helps combat brassiness with every wash. It leaves your hair feeling so silky and smooth without too much weight. I’m in love!
- Favorite gift– My girlfriend gifted me with a beautiful crystal vase for hosting her baby shower! I was in shock and I was not expecting it at all. It is such a thoughtful gift. Every week, I love snapping pictures of my flowers and this just makes them look that more beautiful!
- Luxury Purchase– Kurt surprised me with this card case for Mother’s Day. And I was in shock. I sent him the link awhile ago telling him that I really liked it. But I always do that and he never takes my bait! It is so easy to slip a few cards in it and throw it in my jacket pocked or a smaller purse. I use it as my every day wallet and it is so convenient!
