I’m calling this my halfway there living space reveal for a few different reasons. 1. I’ve sort of been at a stand still on what I want to do next with our space. 2. Fall decor has taken over and I’m currently decorating for that (Stay tuned because that will be on the blog next month!). And, 3. “Finishing” a space takes time, lots of time. So instead of waiting until who knows when to share our space, I’m sharing the in-between version of it! If you follow me in the LIKEtoKNOW.it app you have probably already seen that I’ve been posting images here and there. But today I wanted one big blog post to share how it’s all coming together.
We moved into our new space in March and I went full steam ahead in getting this place decorated. I wanted it to feel like home and I knew the only way it would was by getting it decorated. I’ve actually had a lot of fun decorating this space. But it can be so hard to just decide! I now see why people work with interior decorators because it can be so hard to just pick a lane and stick with it.
One of my hardest decisions was choosing a rug. I always say I am the worst when it comes to this! It totally sets the mood for your space. But I always take into account the fact that we have animals and I never want to spend that much on them because I know eventually one of them is going to throw up or pee on it! The one I originally ordered was on backorder forever- it’s not due to ship until October now and I ordered it in…..May! So I canceled that and ended up going with this one and I’m completely obsessed!
I’m also so happy with how our dining space turned out! I knew I had to have these chairs, but choosing a color was so hard for me. I honestly love them all! In the end I was between the navy and grey and finally went with the grey. And I’m so happy with the result! They are incredibly comfortable to sit in. And it’s so nice that we now have room for six guests. Our last place, we didn’t even have room for a dining room table so this makes entertaining so much easier….and fun!
I call our living space reveal a mix between coastal decor, but with a more modern twist and I also kept the palette quite neutral. Which can sound boring, but I’ve added a lot of texture into the space! It is all so “us” or really I should say “me!” Kurt has input but he doesn’t care much about the aesthetic. He just wants to make sure its cozy and comfy haha!
Eventually our space will feel more finished. Here is what is on our wish list to do:
- I really, really want a new coffee table. The one we have is old and while it has served it’s purpose it is just way to modern for the vibe I’m going for. I’ve had my eye on this one, but can’t fully commit.
- We need to add art to the space and that is where I plan on adding some much needed color. I want to hang a huge painting behind our dining room table. And I love everything by this photographer. This just really, really scares me because I know it will be an investment and that’s a lot of color for me! But regardless, I really enjoy his work!
- Eventually I would love to replace our console table. This is not needed at all and I actually really like how it turned out and looks in our space. I just wish it were white! I want everything to be white though haha!
- On the very long list I would like to replace the armoire in our space with this cabinet because its white haha. And all of my dishes would look so pretty displayed in it. The armoire is actually part of my bedroom collection from when I was growing up, so I am very hesitant to get rid of it. It’s a wonderfully and beautifully made piece of furniture so while I know this cabinet would look gorgeous, I’m not in any rush to replace it. This isn’t our forever home and I think I would be mad at myself if we sold it.
- I would love to get these bar stools to match our dining room chairs. Except I think I would go with the navy color to add a bit of pizazz. I adore these chairs so much!
- And lastly we need more pillows! I love pillows and the fact that I only have two right now is just crazy. This one and this one are my favorite right now.
I hope you enjoyed my living space reveal!
