…
I don’t even think I’ve updated you all, but I did a no shopping January. And I’m so proud to say that I actually did it!! So many people take January to reset, which I think it a great idea. People do a dry January (no alcohol), they do the Keto diet for a whole month, etc. For me, my vice is shopping! So I decided to say goodbye to my vice for an entire month. My rules were pretty simple. I couldn’t buy myself a new sweater or pair of shoes or any clothing for that matter. I made myself dig through my closet and re-create looks with items I already own. One rule I did have was I was able to purchase beauty items, BUT only if I was completely out of the product. And I couldn’t add on an extra lip gloss or a new beauty item I’ve been wanting to try.
I’ve heard of people taking it one step further though and if they are out of a beauty item, they had to use a sample or sub it with something else they already own. Which I think this is kind of genius! I get a little nervous because my skin is so sensitive to new products. And testing out a new face lotion, for example, would send my skin haywire. But I love the idea of using up all the samples I always get because I usually get them and then they go in my bin to use later. But they hardly ever get used!
So because I did a no shopping January, my online shopping carts are packed full of items! I didn’t buy anything for the whole month, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t browse haha. There are so many cute items that are coming out now for spring and I wanted to share some of the items on my shopping wish list.
This year, I’m going to be more intentional with my purchases and by creating these mood boards, it really helps me stay on track with my spending. The word of the year is frugal and I plan on sticking to it this year! Except I know I couldn’t go a whole year without shopping. So I plan on really thinking about my purchases and just not hitting the checkout button every time J.Crew has a sale. Btw online sites make it WAY to easy to checkout now! It’s basically one click and then it shows up a week later on your doorstep!
My Shopping Wish List for Spring
1. PJ Set– I always try and buy a new pair of pajamas for each season and I’ve had my eye on this pair. I like the long sleeve top because it will keep you a little warmer. And bonus points that this pair is currently on sale!
2. Baseball Hat– I love wearing hats, especially baseball hats during the summer months. It keeps the sun out of my eyes and provides coverage for my skin because I’m all about not getting wrinkles! This one is so cute and plain, so it will go with everything. And it would be perfect for our trips to the dog beach!
3. Mulberry Bag– I’ve been dying over this bag!!!! A blogger I follow has it and I’ve been lusting hard core over it since she first wore it. It’s probably not something that would have been on my radar had I not seen it on her, but it’s perfect. It’s classy and elegant and is one of those styles that will never go out. One night after work I had to return a few items at Nordstrom and they just so happened to have this bag in store. So I was able to try it on and I fell even more in love with it. Its an investment that’s for sure, so it will take me some time to save up, but I love it!
4. Pink Shorts– These are my favorite shorts for spring and summer and I love this pink color! I always size up two sizes in these and wear an 8. I know it sounds crazy but I HATE my shorts being tight, so I’m probably just the crazy one over here haha.
5. Madwell Coat– Another item I’ve been lusting over hard core lately is this coat! I’ve kind of had a thing for coats this year! It’s gorgeous and perfect in every way. I also love how it can be styled in a multitude of ways- dressy with black pants for work, with jeans, a sweater and booties and it also looks adorable with sneakers and leggings for a real casual outfit.
6. Striped Headband– This knotted headband trend isn’t going away anytime soon! They add a really cute and fun element to any simple outfit. I have a similar one from J.Crew so I can attest that they do not hurt your head! Which is a major plus because I have bought some from other retailers and 30 minutes after putting one on, I’m removing it because I have a headache.
7. Pink Cardigan– This sweater is adorable as we transition into spring. It will keep you warm now, but still looks spring because the color and detailing. Cardigans are also trending right now if you haven’t noticed. It seems like every retailer has them out right now, so you will be right on trend!
8./9. Bathing Suit Top and Bottom– J.Crew makes the BEST swim!! And it’s my go to every year. Their suits always fit really well and they have the cutest styles, prints, colors, etc. This is a new print for this year that I am in love with!! I personally love the high waist version of this suit but they also have a really cute one piece if that’s more your style.
10. Boyfriend Jeans– I really, really want these jeans for spring. Don’t they just look sooo comfy to throw on with a tee and a cute pair of sneakers?!
11. Hooded Sweatshirt– I always struggle on the weekends to find comfy tops to wear with leggings that are long enough. And this hoodie is the answer to that dilemma! It’s also a great transitional piece. Wear now with leggings and a pair of boots and later with sneakers and jean jacket!
12. Round Sunglasses– A pair of round sunglasses have been on my wish list for a while now. But I just haven’t found the right pair until now! I like to stick to Ray-Ban sunglasses, mainly for their polarized lenses. I’ve had my aviators for almost six years now and I always prefer to wear them over any other pair that I have because they actually block the sunlight. You will notice a huge difference when you get use to polarized lenses vs. a pair that are just normal. I have super sensitive eyes so I’ve learned that I just have to stick to my tried and true brand!
13. Sneakers– I really want a preppy pair of sneakers this spring and this pair has been on my shopping wish list for a while now. These will look super cute with leggings, jeans and shorts. I’m already envisioning all of the outfits I can create wearing this pair!
14. Boots– I’ve been lusting hard over this pair of boots since about September/October. Now I know these are a pretty big investment, but they are gorgeous. And I’ve come to learn that when you pay more for a pair of shoes, they just last. I actually asked Kurt if he would buy these for me for Valentine’s Day and he just laughed at me haha. Maybe I am a little crazy, but they are just gorgeous!
So tell me, what’s on your shopping list for spring this year?
