If you’ve been following or reading for awhile you might remember that a couple of years ago I did a workout called BBG (read more about it here). Well, I never completed the 12 week program mainly because we were starting IVF. And it was heavily advised by my doctor to move to something more low impact. I got to around 8 or 9 weeks and then had to give it up. But I always regretted not finishing the program! It was the right decision at the time. But I knew someday I would come back to it. Even in those 8 or 9 weeks that I initially did the program, I saw results from it. And it was so simple and straight forward for me to follow. Simple enough- it was attainable and cheap to do and I saw results.
After a really long 2019 of IVF, we decided to take a few months off at the beginning of 2020 and just enjoy life a bit. I knew the second I got clearance from my doctor I was going to start over with my BBG workouts. Going thru IVF makes you feel bloated all the time, sick and just not that confident in how you look or feel about yourself. I will say I’m pretty lucky in that I don’t gain a ton of weight while on all of the IVF drugs (many women have it much worse that I do). But they just don’t make you feel your best. My goal this time around was to finish the program- all 12 weeks! And I wanted to feel stronger and better about my body. I was also looking for all those feel good morphins that come with working out.
Initially I started this program pre-quarantine. And I was so happy to have already established a workout routine that I could do from home when COVID-19 hit. You don’t need much equipment. A yoga mat, some weights and a chair is all I used. The workouts are tough, but I love that they are effective and a short 30-40 minutes. And I should mention, the app is only $20, so very cost effective!
I will say I didn’t follow the program to a tee like I did my first go at it. You should do cardio a few times a week and there were many weeks I don’t think I did enough of it. It was cold or rainy and not having a gym to use a treadmill at, made it a bit more difficult. Sure we took Addie for walks and a lot of weeks I did hit my cardio goal, but I wasn’t as strict.
After completing the 12 week program, I can most confidently say I feel so much better about myself and how I look. I have noticed my thighs looking slimmer which is where I hold a lot of weight. So that is a huge win for myself! My arms are more toned and my abs are starting to poke through. I have more energy and I sleep better at night.
Overall, BBG is a great, cost effective workout that you can do while at home. So you don’t need a lot of equipment. I’m so excited to have found something thats so inexpensive and that actually works.
We will soon start back up with IVF, so I know I won’t be able to do these intense workouts much longer. I plan on switching to the yoga workouts also provided in the app for more low impact workouts.

I made it through about 4 weeks and then life got in the way but I always think of going back to it! I’m just so bad at HIIT hahah. Currently I’m running and doing some strength training but I’d like to try BBG again, you’ve motivated me!

Do it! I love it! I think what helped me the most was every Sunday I would plan out what days I was going to workout and what days were rest days. And I forced myself to follow thru. It’s the only workout that I’ve seen results from- so you know it works!
