Stanley Cup (color is Chambray)
…
I was finally able to get my hands on the highly sought after Stanley cup back in September. So after having this now for four months, I’m sharing my Stanley cup review. And if this thing is really worth it!
To start off, I should mention I am a water drinker and really always have been. I’ve had a water bottle for years that is always by my side. My most recent one (before the Stanley cup) was the 32 oz Hydro Flask with straw mouth, which I think I’ve had for over five years now. And I loved this water bottle so much! It keeps my water nice and cold, the straw mouth makes it easy to drink out of. Overall, I loved this water bottle and didn’t really need a new one. But I couldn’t get over the buzz on the Stanley cup. So I had to try it out!
Stanley Cup Review
I would say that I like the Stanley cup. But I don’t think it’s life changing like everyone is claiming- at least not for me. I do have a girlfriend who has one and she’s not the best at drinking her water every day. And for whatever reason she didn’t have hers for a few days and she said she didn’t drink nearly as much water as she did when she had her cup. So I think it’s really different for every person and your specific needs. She lives by her cup and for me, I’m just so so about it. But also really loved my last water bottle too.
I do like that it is 40 oz vs 32 oz, so I don’t have to fill up as much. I think the handle placement is a little weird in relative to the straw. The straw is located on one side and it probably should be in the middle of the cup. So depending on how the top is screwed on, you might be reaching over the cup in order to drink from it, if that makes sense. Or you just have to turn the cup so the handle is on the other side. Either way, it took a little getting used to in a weird way.
And because it is 40 oz, it is extremely heavy. Almost too heavy. I like that it gives you a lot of water at once, but if I were to buy it again, I would have gone with a smaller size. It also leaks so bad! Sloane has spilled it multiple times and it just gushes with water. I’ve since learned to keep it out of her reach.
I also think the top is extremely hard to open. I do have small hands, but I can’t ever get it open. In fact, I usually get so angry when I go to refill it because it is so difficult to open. I always say I am going to switch back to my Hydro Flask at that time, but I never do.
One of the perks about the Stanley cup is that it can go in the dishwasher, which was a big selling point to me. Although, I’ve always hand washed it. My water bottle is always by my side so there isn’t time for a dishwasher cycle. Maybe I just need to invest in another one?!
Another perk that everyone always talks about is the fact that it fits in your car cup holders. I would agree that this is a nice feature. But I never really had an issue with this because my Hydro Flask would fit in my door cup holder.
Lastly, the accessories are wildly expensive. Sloane ruined my straw by chewing on it pretty much right when I got it haha. Lesson learned, I just need to keep it away from her! But the straws are stupid expensive. Plus most retailers charge for shipping on top of it. Call me cheap, but I am not going to pay $20 to replace straws for my water bottle!
Overall, I do really like the Stanley cup. I think they come in really pretty colors and designs and it is a nice cup. A straw always makes you drink faster and more water so that is an added bonus. I actually wish I would have had this when I was pregnant and postpartum. I bet my review would have been a little different.
Is this water bottle life changing? No. If you are in the market for a new water bottle, I would say go for it. But it’s not the end all be all like every blogger is making it out to be.
Where to Buy
Dick’s Sporting Goods, Stanley Cup and Williams Sonoma are the main retailers. I got mine at Nordstrom, which looks like they don’t have them on their site anymore for whatever reason. Personally, Nordstrom was the best place to purchase the Stanley cup because they have free shipping. The other retailers I mentioned all charge shipping. I also know people who have said they had more luck shopping in stores for these and were able to find them easily. I think the hunt for them is part of the buzz!
Have you converted to a Stanley cup yet?

Updated 3/3/24- It has now been a little over a year of having my Stanley cup and I have to say, I’m now hooked and have been using it every day since I bought it! So you could so, I’m a convert and an enthusiast now since I now own more than one!
I did recently buy this IceFlow one (in lavender, 20 oz) and I love this one so much! I was really wanting something lighter and smaller that I could grab and go and bring with me when I am running errands. And now I’m hooked on this one. If you are going to buy a new Stanley, I highly recommend this one. First of, it does not leak at all. You can flip it, knock it over and not one drop will come out, which make it really nice to throw in a bag.
I bought the 20oz size because I did want something smaller and not so heavy. But I actually really love this size a lot. I now use it as my every day water bottle. At first, I thought it would be annoying to have to fill it up more because I drink so much water. But I like that it gets me up and moving more! The straw is also really easy to sip out of. Maybe not as much as an actual straw. But I still really like it. And the best part of all Stanley’s is that you can throw them in the dishwasher! They also have bigger sizes if you do want something larger.
We also recently got Sloane the 14oz straw cup (in color Pomelo). She was always stealing mine and I was sick of sharing and her always tipping it over haha. The 14oz is a really good size for her (she’s 2.5 years old), but it does still spill :(. I bought it before I got my IceFlow bottle (my mom actually bought it for her), and if I would have known how much I would have loved the IceFlow, I would have gotten her that one! I’m a big fan now- a year later. And I love that they keep coming out with the cutest colors, new sizes and keep you coming back for more.
