Lately, you all know I’ve been really into building up my basic wardrobe. I’m really trying to build it up because it’s way easier when you have all the basics in place. I realized back over Christmas that I just keep buying “items” and not all of these items work well together. So, now instead of hitting checkout too quickly I’ve been trying to really analyze if this will go with my wardrobe overall. And one of those basics that everyone needs in their closet is a classic trench coat.
I’ve actually had this jacket for two years now, but you would never know it. When you buy classic, good quality pieces they will never go out of style. And if you save up and spend a little more money on items, they will also last and hold up over the years. And you won’t have to replace it for a while. I’m not saying to go out and buy the overly expensive Burberry trench (how gorgeous is it though?!?!)- stick to your budget. I bought mine from Banana Republic and waited until they had a sale. So I ended up snagging mine at 40% off. This one is also a really great option that is one sale right now!
During the spring time, I also like to add some color back in my outfits. A few months ago, I couldn’t get enough gray, tan, black, etc. But now I’m ready for some sunshine and pops of color in my outfits every day. And the perfect way to do that is with a fun coral colored gingham shirt (also a good basic!).
What is your idea of a good basic?
