Around mid-August we bit the bullet and finally decided to order a white couch from Crate & Barrel. If you’ve shopped for a new couch, you know this is not an easy decision. You have to find the right style, shape, is it comfy enough?, fabric, etc. And on top of it, these days, the lead times can be insane on some of them! We badly needed a new couch for our play room and we didn’t want to wait months and months to receive it.
You might remember, but last Spring we had our back room redone. Here is the post all about it. We keep all of Sloane’s toys back there and we also have a TV. We always knew this would be the room we spent the most time in. The only catch was we had no where to sit! I had been researching and scrolling for months trying to find the perfect, affordable couch. And we finally landed on this Crate & Barrel one.
I was looking for something comfy, affordable, didn’t have an outrageous lead time and one that fit my design aesthetic. I know people probably think we are crazy, but we also wanted a light color. Light and bright in all areas of my home is important to me!
The lead time was only a couple of weeks per their website and the color we would have chosen (white) was also the stock color. Meaning it didn’t have to be ordered, so it would deliver a little sooner. I saw that it was displayed at one of the malls near us, so we decided to make the trek there and test it out before we purchased. We loved it! It was exactly what we were looking for.
When I first started my search, I really thought we wanted a big, oversized, deep couch. But after sitting on a few of them, we decided it just wasn’t for us. You always have to lounge in them and I didn’t like that. Yes, we wanted something extra comfy, but I also wanted to be able to sit upright in it. And I was a little nervous that an oversized couch wouldn’t fit thru our door frames (my tip here is to measure and measure again. They can usually make it work regardless).
This white couch that we bought has the best of both worlds. It feels oversized, but isn’t as deep, so you can still sit upright. And it is so comfortable! The cushions are a dream! I’ve taken quite a few naps on it and just love it.
As for the white fabric….I also thought we were crazy for purchasing white. But it really hasn’t been that bad. My saving grace is that this couch is a slipcover. So you can take it off and wash it as needed. I actually have yet to do this, as I know it will be a big task and it scares me a bit. It will probably be a huge pain to get back on. But at least we know we can do it, if/when needed.
My saving grace is also Folex. And I use it regularly to get stains out. I’ve never met a stain that it won’t get out either. This stuff is magic! We also keep a blanket on the cushion for extra protection against Addie’s paws and Sloane’s dirty, food covered hands haha.
I also wanted to touch on lead times. We ordered this on August 20th and at the time we were told the ETA was the end of August. Well, that kept getting pushed out and our couch ended up getting delivered the end of September. It was a little frustrating because we thought we were going to receive the couch a lot sooner than we actually did. But the lead time was still a lot shorter than most of the other couches I was looking at.
All in all, I am so happy with the white couch we decided on! It is extremely comfy and perfect in our play room. I love the way it looks and can’t imagine anything else in this space. I’m really excited to continue decorating this space. I’m kind of at a road block right now and don’t know what direction I want to go in. So it is a slow and steady process!
