Tomorrow is my 34th birthday- yay!!! And as I type this and look at the number, I feel old. Ok, not in the sense that I’ve lived my life to the fullest and I’m near death (sorry to be morbid), but the number just looks large. When you look back as a kid, I thought I would feel like I had my life more “together” by this point, but in some aspects I do. I have a loving husband, a city and apartment that I love, plenty of animals to make me feel wanted and so many family and friends who love and support me. I can truly say that I have never been happier and as I reminisce about life, I know it’s a bold statement to say, but my 30s are the best years of my life! Here’s a little insight about why I think that way:
1. Way More Confident
There is something that comes with more experience and age. I am way more confident than I have ever been and more bold. Think back to when you first started your career- I just wanted all of the experience that I could get. And I would do anything and give everything in order to get that. These days, I have that experience and I feel confident in my work and knowledge which allows you to be more bold about decisions or negotiating. And my confidence has allowed me to take some risks like starting this blog!
2. More Money
I know everyone always feels like they don’t have enough time or money, myself included. But now that I am into my 30s I feel much more ‘safe’ in the amount of money I have in the bank. And I have stopped living paycheck to paycheck. By the time you reach your 30s you have probably worked your way up the corporate ladder which means raises and more money! And you have that extra money to take vacations or buy those shoes you’ve been eyeing. The real eye opener for me was a few weeks ago when Kurt and I met with a financial advisor. We had been doing it all on our own and doing a pretty good job, but meeting with someone and planning out our future made me exhilarated! It got me so excited for the future and everything that is to come. But it also made me feel very ‘adult’ like!
3. Life’s Events
I have watched so many of my good friends get engaged and married to the ones they loved, myself included in their 30s. And I’ve watched them go on to build homes and have kids. It’s so fun seeing all the little babies! What decade in your life can you say has this many life events that all happen to you? I love enjoying every little celebration!
So as I now approach my mid-30s I can truly say that life has never been better and I’m exactly in the spot that I should be.
My Outfit
And I just have to make a note about these amazing shoes I am wearing!!! Aren’t they beautiful? I got them to wear to a wedding I have in a couple of weeks, but I just couldn’t wait. They are the perfect shoe for the upcoming holiday season! And they are one of my the most comfortable pair of heels I have worn in a long time. I am also obsessed with this pink color, but decided I would get more use out of the black. And I’m wearing my favorite jeans which are currently on sale!! Snag them while you can.
Thank you everyone in advance for the birthday wishes. I can’t wait to celebrate tomorrow!!!!
